Santi will ride to victory on streets of challenger/mayor

Santino Castillo

Eager to get back on his feet, Santi is facing a challenge, not from a competing cycling team, but from a member of his own party. Belize City’s Mayor, Darrell Bradley is challenging the incumbent Area Representative for Caribbean Shores.  But Castillo isn’t shying away; he thinks anything can happen between now and the convention which is three years away. In fact, Castillo’s last campaign slogan was ‘Ride to Victory’ and he intends to do that on the Mayor’s paved streets.

“Are you concerned that you will have to apparently face the Mayor of Belize City in a convention?”

Santino Castillo, Caribbean Shores Area Rep.

“None at all Jules, I have the full support of the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and as far as I’m concerned a convention is three years away and anything can happen between now and then. So it doesn’t concern me one bit.”

“Is it an issue that the mayor is paving so many streets in the Caribbean Shores including the street you live on, Baymen Avenue?”

Santino Castillo

“Well I’m very happy for Caribbean Shores. If they can benefit from anything that the mayor, myself or anything that anybody does, kudos to them. So I am thankful to mayor. I have nothing negative to say about him and I wish him all the best in the continued paving of the streets. And as I said, this thing is a moot point as far as I am concerned; it is far away.”

Mike Rudon

“You say you have the confidence of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has gone on record to say that you have been M.I.A. in your area, in Caribbean Shores. Are you confident that you have the support of the people?”

Santino Castillo

“Well the truth is that all ministers have been M.I.A. I think I have been one of the only ones that have started to walk again and I have been visiting my constituency. I have been there hailing the people and I have no doubt that I will have their total support in any convention versus anybody. Speaking of M.I.A., I took the first year to learn government business and I don’t think any other else minister is walking, but I have started.”
