Tour de Santino?s to end Monday in Belize City

Story PictureIn sporting news, while hundreds of Belizeans will be jumping up and down this weekend, participants in the Tour de Santino’s will also be busting a sweat on their bicycles. On Thursday stage day one took the pelothon from mile eight to the Boom junction and back to mile eight. It was a close finish at the line but Warren Coye managed to edge out Charlie Lewis for the yellow jersey. Rounding out day one’s top five was Glen Obrien, Adrian Faux and Kenny Gladden. Those results put Coye in yellow and under pressure on day two on the same course. Cat and mouse games would dictate a fluctuating pace but coming into Hattieville a four man breakaway made a move out front. That crew would hold off the pack for most of the route. Despite a car in the middle of the sprint, at the tape it’s Charles Lewis walking away with the win. He was followed by Adrian Faux, Santino “The Chief” Castillo, George Lovell and Kenny Gladden. Lewis will wear yellow for stage three, set to move off from mile eight and end at the Belmopan Comprehensive School. Day four’s course is Loma Luz to Belize City and the tour will wrap up on Monday with a criterium on Princess Margaret Drive.
