A Call to Worship

Althea Garbutt

There will be a massive congregation of the faithful from all denominations on Saturday in Belize City. It’s a Call to Worship…a night devoted to God which coordinators say has outgrown and exceeded all its expectations since it first started five years ago. Today, Director of the Call to Worship Committee, Althea Garbutt, visited our studios to invite us, and all Belizeans to this very spiritual and special event.

Althea Garbutt, Director, Call to Worship Committee

“A Call to Worship has been going on now for the past five years; this is our fifth year and the places that we had it previously was just too small because the house practically everybody who has a heart to worship from all the different denominations, from across the nation—pastors prime ministers; these are the people who we invite to come. We don’t block out anybody because the event is set up so that for one night we forget the different denominations and we come together and worship god as a people of god.”

“What can people expect if they go there? What happens at this “Call to Worship?”

Althea Garbutt

“At a call to worship, it is just a night of extravagant praise and worship. It is pure music. We start worshipping from like seven o’clock until about ten, ten-thirty. It is ministering on to one another. It is a place where people find hope and strength and get new vision and ideas from the Lord. And so we invite the nation, we invite Belize. It will be happening tomorrow night at seven p.m. at the Princess Hotel in the King’s Room.”

Mike Rudon

“I’d like to ask, how important do you think an event like this is right now when you have so much violence in the community; so many things are happening?

Althea Garbutt

“I believe a “Call to Worship” is very important to the nation of Belize. The name alone says something about that. We are calling people from wherever they are; their place of hopelessness. We know so many people have lost loved ones—my heart goes out to these people—and I am saying to them today come and let the lord minister to you. Come and give god a chance to bring you back, to give you hope in your life. I want to invite Belize wherever you are. Under the hearing of my voice, I am calling you to this place of worship tomorrow night at the Princess Hotel, seven p.m. in the King’s Room. Wherever you are, come and worship with us.”

Coordinators say that they expect more than fifteen hundred persons to attend the event.

We need events like this more than ever today, when our country is beset by so many problems and so much immorality, even pressure from other countries to lower or abandon our moral values, and essentially to abandon our children to bad influences.

Indeed, it should not be a once-a-year thing, but religious leaders and devout followers should organize to fight the good fight EVERY DAY, to save the nation — because the forces of evil work against us every day.

A call to worship is good for our country of Belize. I have just one comment if you please. In Ms. Garbutt’s statement or quotes, I know that she would like to give “God’ the respect He rightly deserve by respecting the proper spelling of His name. God capitalized

Thank you Ms Althea, this is a move in the right direction to release the protection of God. Do this more than just once a year, please do this often, as Gos is worshipped he will move against the evil that has befallen the country.

I believe that one day they will be touched by God in a positive way and they will truly serve the Living God and they will have respect for His name and the way they used it and not just look for the praise and glory they get from confused followers/people.
