A common ground; Succotz gains a recreational park for kids

Each community needs open space and a safe environment for its youths to serve as a playground to foster friendship and also to begin to learn about the world of sports. Perhaps that is why in Succotz Village, it was important enough for the Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia to make an appearance. According to Chairman Gilly Can, the development of the Succotz Recreational Park has been possible with the assistance of Belize Natural Energy and the Ministry of Tourism.

“It’s a pleasure for me to give you all a warm welcome to this special event as we inaugurate this beautiful, recreational park donated by BNE Natural Energy Charitable Trust. We are so happy that this project has been completed. It helps to beautify our village. We are fortunate to have been chosen among others who have applied for similar projects around Belize. A strong relationship has been established between the village council and BNE Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust by working together for the completion of this beautiful park. For the residents of San Jose, Succotz, let us take care and cherish this gift that Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust has given us.”

“Today I am happy to be here at the inauguration of the second park in your village; the BNE Recreational Park. This achievement is once again a joint effort of the private sector and government. BNE through its grant program continues to assist in community development efforts around the community and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture shall contribute in part to the final completion of this recreational space in your community in regards to access to water and lighting.”

The Area Representative, Erwin Contreras addressed the gathering.

Glad that the kids of Succotz got a park. Not happy that once again the wutless politicians try to steal all the limelight. Contreras is never at Succotz, but village council elections are next month so the man makes an appearance.

  2. dany says:

Good comment MacGuffin, your right what has Ewrin done for us? only private companies help us, look at all the parks in Benque BTL, Atlantic Bank, and BNE? where are our tax-dollars going? to Mexico maybe? they only barrow more $ to give us streets, and make their buddy richer,, that we have to pay for later! We need true responsible leadership in Cayo west.

The whole ‘project’ was completed in less than a month. To say that this is representative of their work, man, this leaves a lot to be desired. Like a typical public servant, they worked the last half hour before 5pm. Here, they worked the last month before election – thanks for nothing.

  4. Storm says:

Still, good the kids got something, no matter what the motive behind it.
