Belize Jaguars to take on powerhouses in its first appearance in CONCACAF Gold Cup
After a rather impressive outing in the recently held Copa Centroamericana at Costa Rica, the Belize Jaguars will be making its first appearance in the CONCACAF Gold Cup which is held every two years. While our national team proudly takes its stand with the best teams from our region, Belize finds itself grouped with the host country, United States and with Costa Rica and Cuba. On July ninth, Belize opens against the United States, which is rated at thirty two in the world by FIFA. That game will play at the Jeld Wen Field in Portland, Oregon. Our next match finds us facing number fifty-three Costa Rica at Salt Lake City’s Rio Tinto Stadium on July 16th while the last match in the group stage sees us playing number eighty-seven Cuba at the Rentschler Field at Hartford, Connecticut. It’s the biggest challenge that the Belize Jaguars will face in its history and it will tell us where we fit on the global stage of FIFA’s football.
