Bloodiest weekend in February

The violence continued on Sunday; six other persons were hospitalized after they were injured in separate shootings in the south side of Belize City. Just before dawn on Sunday at around four-twenty a.m. Mario Ramos was inside his room at his residence on Mayflower Street when four shots rang out. Ramos later realized that he was hit to the right hip and thigh. He was transported to the K.H.M.H. where he was treated and then released. In the evening, three other men were taken to the emergency room of the K.H.M.H. after they were shot to various parts of the body. Nineteen year old Randy Harris, twenty-four year old Deon Gibson and thirty-nine year old Orlando Velasquez were socializing at a yard on Kraal Road when a gunman unleashed a barrage of bullets in their direction. Harris was hit to the right hand and Gibson to the left hand, while Velasquez was injured to the left thigh. Velasquez remains in a stable condition, while Harris and Gibson were treated and released.
