No leads on murder of George Street Four
Going into the weekend, police and B.D.F. continue to patrol the area of Queen Square and Mesopotamia following Monday’s quadruple murder of George Street affiliates. As the families prepare to bury Leonard Meyers, Albert Fuentes, Anthony Perez and Keino Quallo, police are yet to uncover any clear lead or motive but on the streets the prevailing sense is that there was police involvement. The police spoke today on the ongoing investigation saying that a proclamation of Zone Four may not be forthcoming. Duane Moody reports.

Since the shocking discovery of the massacre of the George Street four, information into the investigation has not yielded anything substantive. In fact, there are no leads as to who committed the gruesome murders. Autopsies conducted on the bodies show that the men died from asphyxia, transection of the trachea and multiple cut wounds; in the case of thirty year old Leonard “Ghost” Meyers and Keino Quallo, they were each stabbed over thirty-five times to the body.
Supt. Alden Dawson, Head of Eastern Division [File: January 8th, 2013]
“Keino Quallo, forty years; Leonard Meyers, thirty years; Albert Fuentes, nineteen years; and Anthony Perez. So far the investigation has revealed that these bodies had received several stab wounds as well as each body had cut wounds to their throats. At this time the investigation is undergoing and the motive for this killing is not ascertained as yet.”

“In terms of the quadruple murder, any updates on that?”
Elodio Aragon Jr., Deputy ComPol
“Presently we haven’t gotten. Yesterday, the four postmortems were done. At this point in time the investigating team is looking at that and I think yesterday they also revisited the team and that is all part of the investigation. And as soon as we get an update on this investigation or any new developments, we’ll let you all know.”
Dean Street has since been barricaded and investigators were back on the scene on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner, Elodio Aragon Jr., says that heavy police patrols will operate out of the Mesopotamia Police Substation.
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“I think only one street a barrier was put up there, but that has to do with our operational capacity in regards to the fact that we are operating from the Mesop Police Station and that road is very narrow and the amount of vehicles coming in and out. We decided to keep that road a one way street basically ro just for the use of the police at this point in time.”
The gruesome way in which Meyers, Quallo as well as nineteen year old Albert “Long Johns” Fuentes and twenty-eight year old Anthony “Heads” Perez were killed, raises many questions for which there are no asnweres right now. How did the killer or killers gain access to the apartment building without forced entry? Did the victims know who their killers were? What is the motive for the brazen massacre of the George Street affiliates? Was it a drug deal gone sour or was it state-sanctioned? While residents seemed convinced that the Gang Suppression Unit carried out the hit, Aragon Jr. says the police have nothing to gain from the mass murder.
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“I will tell you right here, right now, the police department in no way involved in these acts that has been speculated out there by the public. There is no reason why the police would have done something like this. So I want to dispel that kind of thinking. And I want to ask the general public; think about it. What does the police have to gain from doing things like these? We would never engage in these kinds of acts. What does the police department have to benefit from something like this? Our police department would never engage in that. Yes the GSU has been out there actively working to deal with the gang situation. And they are the ones that are frontline officers who are engaging the gangs. So it is common sense that these people will want to look at the GSU as being the primary focus where they feel the GSU may have committed this thing.”
As to the declaration of Zone four that would encompass areas in the Queen Square and Mesopotamia Divisions, Aragon Jr. says that unless it is deemed necessary; the proclamation will be made.
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“We do continue to mount patrols—foot patrols, vehicle patrols, check points, etc—within the area just to ensure that we keep things at bay and thus far that is working and we will wait and see if the proclamation does come about on that.”
“When can we anticipate that this is going to happen? Residents may feel that there should be a haste to have this put in place.”
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“Well it all depends. I think the security forces on the ground have full command and control of the area and if it is not needed then why will we engage in it. So at this point in time, they are looking at what we have on the ground. I’m satisfied that the police and the security forces have things under control.”
So there is where we stand tonight. It’s the eleventh day in the New Year and there have been eight murders in the Old Capital – a crippling statistic for crime control in the country. Duane Moody for News Five.
Still on Monday’s massacre, The National Trade Union Congress of Belize this afternoon issued a release calling on government to use the RESTORE Belize forum for policy discussion on gangs, the drug trade and gun control. It also proposes the establishment of a cadre of trained personnel to assist grieving families to deal with the trauma caused by the gruesome murders. And then it calls on the media to downplay crime images.
OMG, the union wants a cadre of professional to help the families of the gangsters grieve?
The dead gangsters caused a lot more grief than their families are suffering today! Where do these “gangster lovers” come from? Quit glorifying them! Maybe the sickest comment ever to come from NTUCB.
BELIZE POLICE NOH KILL LIKE DAT, THEY WOULD HAVE TAKE THEM AND KILL THEM OTHER PLACES LIKE THE ROGER ANTHONY KIDNAPPING, NEVER OUR COPS IS SO SICK WITH KNIVES,ORLANDO WILLIAMS KILLING WAS NO PLAY , THAT MEN DID’NT CRY OVER HIS BROTHER FOR NOTHING,HE LIVED A STONE THROW AWAY FROM THAT HOUSE OF THAT QUADRUPLED MURDERS. JUSTICE.
No one will be caught period.
Is the goverment going to compensate the family of the gangmembers? Just like with the Guats? Why so much prevelage? What about the ones that were killed by them? Why are they protecting them? Is there something we dont know?
Agreed, Agreed, Agreed! With the first 3 comments.
And the media continues to show the supposed ‘grieving mother’. she has said it, she will not rest until one of the police is dead, I assume she does not care who; all she wants is what she thinks in her mind is street justice. You have to understand this is not common practice to use knives. This clearly sends a message, these were ruthless people not some ‘pocotiempo’ cop being paid a few extra dollars to execute this job. The victims had to know these people in order to allow them entry. Think people, think!
SP
these guys were killed by people they know.people they were in that room with.Like I said before the government need to ask for assistance from United States with finger printing and fiber testing, because there is finger prints and other evidence at that crime scene. How ever because it is now the family of a high official they won’t do it.The government need to start treating these situation with interest .The local citizen need to get up and demonstrate until something is being done.By the way I don’t know any of these people that got killed, how ever one of my children was murdered a couple years ago,and nothing was done about it. COME ON BELIZEANS lets get up stand together as one and do something about this.It could be anywhere from three to five persons that did this.BELIZE NEED BETTER QUALIFIED FORENSIC SCIENCE AND CRIMINALOGY.
Please tell me I am not reading that the families of these gang members are about to receive royal treatment. This is an insult to all other families of people murdered by this band of criminals. There is more incentive in Belize to be a criminal than a law abiding citizens.
The decent people of Belize need to take to the streets. agree wih @no mercy for murderers.
I cannot understand who is it that we are baffled, confused, surprised at the impunity at which this was done. We only have to look across the border and this type of killing happens with frequency. this type of killing is done by organized crime when a deal goes sour. Wasn’t there a similar thing in Guatemalan farm recently with 27 people chopped up by some crazy gang. All this is a deal went bad, the guys came to collect, they couldnt collect so they did what they do best. Just look cross the border. North. If the media continues glorifying these GS murderers we will continue having this problem. The media and the politicians cannot glorify these guys. And what biut the PM. Nowhere, does the PM meet with gangs. Well in Jamaica it is said that this is the norm so are we now saying Belize has finally become Jamaica. We do not need quialified forensic, we do not need all that. The answer is there for us to see but we want to believe otherwise…

Who cares who murdered them.
Don’t waste our precious taxpayer money finding out.
Play with the devil and you will have to pay the price.
The National Trade Union Congress of Belize are IDIOTS !
Awoooooo. Wolfman is baffled. Belizeans cry out for the police to take control of the streets and when they do, Belizeans cry out for dead hoodlums.
Which is it going to be? Police or hoodlum? Who are we going to support? Hoodlum or police?
Belize is going in the direction of its neighbors, full of crimes. If not stoped , it Will only destroy our economy and democracy, our nation (People)will suffer.
As much as I disagree with how they govern, our precious land, People home and abroad need to stop bashing GOB. What we need to do is to ensure that Law enforcement officers, get the protective gear, equipment and proper training for a safer Belize.
The gangsters, who terrorized their own fellow citizens, should not receive any sympathy, but I sent sincere condolence to the families, for their lost.
For the love of county let’s bring the culprits to justice, and make an example as to prevent this from happening again.
The media needs to stop giving so much airtime to the gangster’s families when they kill each other. Entire families know and support these crimminals and aid and abet their activities. The only innocent victims in any of these killings are good citizens caught in the cross fire or children of the gang members who are too young to have any say in what happens in their own homes,. But the bawling mothers who raised these killers? I wouldn’t give the any more airtime. Makes me sick the way they blame everyone but themselves and their own sons for the crimes. These same people well and know who killed the George Street Four, and they know better than anyone it was not the police. They don’t use knives. Belizean’s aren’t stupid enoujgh to believe the police would stand around stabbing someone 30 times. Only someone who truly hated these individuals, or who they crossed in business would take that much trouble and create that much blood. The writing is on the wall for George Street…there will be more bloodletting. I say get the children and elderly out of there, move them to safety. But the other youth and women who uphold dat !@$? Lef dem right deh.
@No mercy is right, ComPol must ask the US for assistance in cracking the case before it is too late. They have all the technology needed to solve it, more than any other nation on earth. Sometimes they need our help, today we need theirs.
These thugs were criminals, period! They tried to screw the Zetas and they paid for it. Where is the big mystery? The police will never be able to prosecute anyone for these murders. And if they try they will screw it up as usual. And who cares anyway? Four less criminals to deal with.
Why is so many Belizean mad because these four men is dead, what about all the innocent victims these four and other gang member had kill for no good reason. Wake up my Belize people the the Police and GSU unit do their job, the world is looking at you as very dumb to be glorifling their death as an inside job by the GSU. You all are the one who have to live in these gang infested area, not me so, stop put the blame on the Police and the GSU unite, put the blame on yourself, for some of you to be incouraging these gang tugs in the neighborhood and refuse to turn them in. Your family member will be next if you don’t stand up and do the right thing and take back your neighborhood. It take a village to raise a child, so Belizean stand up and take your streets back. You are loosing out on tourism $$$ and other foreign help, because of these gangs, nobody will want to come to Belize and invest, in situtation like these. Wake Up My Belizean People.
THIS STORY SHOULD NOT GET ANYMORE PRESS COVERAGE! This is one crime I wish would NEVER gets solved. Sad to say but the country may be better off after this. Check the attached video clip. CHARLES BRUNSON may have paid a visit down there: http://youtu.be/_GieK_55uyY
Well i a gut feeling its the cops. They made sure they covered their tracks and make it look like foreigners. That block is always active at night and if you are a stranger those guys will check you. If they criminals commits and offense they should be locked up the same applies to law enforcement officers.
Why doesn’t someone ask Dean barrow who killed them. he is already very chummy with the gang members. What he needs to do, if he had the cohones, is to let the GSU do the job they are paid to do. Kick butt. These are nothing but low life criminals. Who cares if they die the way they live. The country will now suffer since the USA has issued a travel warning to all Americans. That is going to be a big loss to our tourism industry – our major “national product”. The next thing he will do is sell out, for big bucks, to the Guatemalans with the referendum issue. The UK, and USA do not care about Belize as an independent nation. They sell military equipment (along with Israel) to Guatemala. You can be certain that Dean will get a piece of the pie. George Price must be turning over in his grave. He would have issued a warning to gang members – you have three days to leave the country or face the consequences.
What Belize is witnessing is the emergence of Garrison Constituencies. This is a long standing practice in Jamaica. In a Garrison Constituency the populace in that constituency benefits from the illegal (usually blood-stained) proceeds from the crimes committed by their men. They reciprocate by being sentries and by coming out to demonstrate when one of these murderers gets sent to hell. Usually, they commit crimes outside the garrison. So, the populace of the garrison doesn’t care. Politicians use gangs at election time to intimidate voters to vote their way and suppress the vote in other areas by intimidation or outright shootings.. The relationship between this administration and the gangs is a cozy one. The social and economic parameters in Belize have gone south, yet these politicians on the south side maintained healthy margins in recent elections. If these gang members would all sing from their hymn book, the tune would be quite ugly. So, this government buys their silence by paying them salaries and giving them a cozy holiday in Gales Point.
As for the the National Trade Union Congress, if these men were from MS-13, they would be singing the opposite tune. That shouldn’t be too hard for u to figure out. And shame on the NGUs and the Church which have been outright whimpy on this issue.
Dean Barrow learned quite a lot in Jamaica. God help us!
Belizeans need to open their eyes!!!!!!
If Belize police officers had done this someone would of heard something. They had nothing to do with this, this is all on them. They got themselves in this situation. So listen up ignorant people, where does all the guns these gang members have came from? This was a drug- gun exchange deal went wrong! Or I think well right. This was clearly to torture, why else would they let their guards down. People stop giving these murders any credit they are NOT innocent victims!! Come on why would anyone stabbed and cut throats of 4 persons. Yeah right!! they didn’t know who they were with behind close doors with. Lol no wonder why they keep getting away with murder.
Belizeans need to open their eyes!!!!!!
This was not police killings, if the police could kill like this we wouldn’t be in the situation.
