Horse’s wife charged with evidence suppression
Pamela Bennett Garnett, who along with her entire family, was remanded to prison in connection with the murder of nineteen year-old Raheem Requeña on December nineteenth, 2012, was before the court today. Pamela appeared along with her son Mark Vernon before Chief Magistrate, Ann Marie Smith. Vernon is facing new charges but he and his mother are accused of attempting to suppress evidence in the case against family members Cassian Bennett Gentle, Jermaine “Horse” Garnett, as well as Kenneth Barrow. Vernon was charged on December twenty-seventh, with the unusual offense of violence against a witness. Vernon was denied bail for the second time, but his mother Pamela, got bail of ten thousand dollars on Monday in the Supreme Court. D
PP, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal is prosecuting the case; today she called one witness, police officer Rene Ku. Ku told the court that on December twenty-fifth, 2012, Pamela Bennett Gentle handed herself into police and was informed that a report had been made against her. Ku also told the court that no one else wished to cooperate with the investigation. The case was adjourned and will resume in two weeks when Alvarez is expected to testify. The allegation against Pamela and Mark is that they both approached Maria Alvarez and asked her not show up in the case against her Gentle Garnett and Barrow, and when Alvarez did not agree, Mark got verbally violent and threatened her. The mother and son also allegedly proposed to pay Alvarez when the murder trial reached the Supreme Court.
We have a new witness protection program and a new sheriff in town, ComPol Whylie. Here’s a good test to see how successfully people can intimidate witnesses in Belize in 2013.
I think witness intimidators should be charged as conspirators in the underlying crime [murder, here], and sentenced the same as the perpetrators themselves. Let them rot in prison.
FACEY AND CHANCEY!
Why da always the ugliest people have to be the faciest??
