New Cuban Ambassador speaks on relationship with Belize

Jose Prieto Cintado

Newly-appointed Cuban Ambassador to Belize Jose Prieto Cintado met with the media in Belize City earlier this week.  During the hour-long session Prieto touched on a range of issues, including the existing United States embargo on the island, terrorism, as well as the bi-lateral program that Cuba shares with Belize. Over the years there has been an influx of medical professionals in Belize; likewise, there have been academic opportunities for Belizean students to pursue tertiary level education in Cuba.

Jose Prieto Cintado, Cuban Ambassador to Belize

“We are happy for representing a country from the third world without any resource. One of the main resources is the human resource. And with the man as the human priority, is who we work with every day. And we have to defend and protect this human resource. In reference to the terrorist against Cuba; that this information is also put together.  The terrorists attack against Cuba started from the beginning of the Cuban and they have been increasing—three thousand and more people lost their lives.”

Prieto takes over from former Ambassador, Manuel Rubido.
