Caught in the act; man pays fine for breaking window

Dale Thompson

Dale Thompson was spared of a jail term when he pleaded guilty to damage to property. This morning Thompson appeared before Magistrate, Adolph Lucas Junior and was fined six hundred dollars, which he must pay the court by January ninth, 2013. Thompson was also ordered to pay the owner of the vehicle, woman police officer, Angela Wilshire, compensation in the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars for damaging the gypsy window of the vehicle during the break in and he has until December fifteenth to pay. Thompson was accused of breaking into a Toyota Corolla belonging to Wilshire on June first at about five in the morning when the car was parked on Cran Street in Belize City.  Stolen from inside the vehicle were an Atlas brand battery, a car jack, assorted tools and a spare tire; all to a total of six hundred and sixty dollars. Wilshire today told us that it was her son who caught Thompson in the act, set chase and caught up with him.

The judge was more lenient than most of us would have been, I think. A month or so in jail is a good lesson for someone like this.
