Guatemalan father and son busted with Meth

A Guatemalan father and son team was busted attempting to bring meth into Belize. At around two-fifteen on Wednesday afternoon, personnel from the anti-drug and canine units of the Police Department intercepted a Volvo car with Guatemalan license plates at western border check point in Benque Viejo. During a search of the vehicle, the police dog sniffed out the suspected drugs, leading the officers to find four parcels of the highly addictive methamphetamine or crystal meth. The drugs weighed in at almost eleven pounds and have a street value of around twenty-three thousand US dollars per kilo; that’s over a hundred and twelve thousand US dollars in total. The father and son were detained pending charges of drug trafficking.

Guatemala — the best neighbor we could want!

Good job with this arrest and seizure. They need a LONG term in Hattieville, and probably a visit by the DEA. Meth is a deadly drug, and that is enough of it to destroy a lot of lives in the Jewel.

If I’m ever King, drug dealers will swing. At the end of a rope.

Again no names and no photos. Why?.

  3. Belizeanfirst says:

Will we have to pay them compensation too for the meth that was confiscated? We need to check with the minister.

It’s probably too much to hope for but Mr. Elrington should use incidents such as the above in counter arguments to any allegations the Guats might try to use against Belize in an international court or other internationally monitored discussion.

Belize is the proverbial housewife living with an abusive spouse. The law (in this case the ICJ) will eagerly respond to the acts of self defence on Belize’s part but conveniently turn a blind eye to all the other brutalities and injustices that the defendant (in this case Belize) has had visited upon them throughout the decades. Sadly it would appear we live in world where might often does make right.

we need names and photos, and send a link to the Guatemalan Press immediately. Bellize needs to fight the war of public opinion as well, even at this flank the Gatemalans are beating us.

  6. goodguy says:

    No worries,

OAS will pressure incompetent Sedie to release these guys, and pay the compensation

  7. Bear says:

    Great point, @Double Standard.

They can grow it, they can cook it, they can hide it BUT K-9 will find it! Congratulations to the K-9 teams. They are also making weed busts that the public is not hearing about. We now have an enforcement asset that will take a real bite out of crime. They can also find explosives, firearms and ammunition. Good Boy Law Dawgs!
