John Doe dead; but was he involved in farm incident?

Another man, who was fatally shot over the weekend, remains unidentified tonight. But it is not known if the shooter will be charged for Murder. That’s because, the deceased man may have been among a group that was stealing from a farm and shot at Jose Echeverria, a farmer of Saint Margaret’s Village. Echeverria says that at around ten-thirty on Saturday night, he was at his father’s farm when he spotted three men uprooting ginger plants on the property. Echeverria says that when he spotted his flashlight on them, he realized one of them was armed. The gunman reportedly shot at him and he fired a single shot back at them after which he heard one of the men screaming. Two ran into the bushes while the other drove off in their pickup truck.  The following night, police found the body of an unidentified Hispanic man near a feeder road in St. Margaret’s Village. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, grey Dickie’s shorts, and had a blue rag around his neck. Police say they have not yet ascertained whether the deceased man was the same person that was shot on Saturday night.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“Police visited a Orange Orchard situated about ten feet off a feeder road in St. Margaret’s Village where they saw the lifeless body of a Hispanic male persons. This person was dressed in a dark blue shirt, a short grey dickies pants and a blue rag tied around his neck. He had several pellet wounds to his lower back and he had a tattoo the word: GIRLA in capital letters was seen on his left shoulder. This man has not been identified to us as yet and we are hoping that he could be identified by the help of the media and the public. We still are investigating that. We are not certain if this man is from the farm the night before; but being that it is in the close proximity, we believe it can be related.”

The body was discovered by officers from the St. Margaret’s sub-station, but Belmopan police have taken over the investigation. Further south, seventeen year old Norris Torres of Independence Village was shot on the back and behind his head. The incident happened on Friday night when, according to police investigations, sixty-nine year old Allan Michael Dunkar fired a single shot at Torres, who was lurking in the area of his garage. When Torres called out his name, Dunkar went to his aid and transported the injured teen to the hospital.

Maybe this is what the Jewel has come to because of the total collapse of security under the “leadership” of Hon. John Saldivar — is it kill or be killed now, survival of the fittest or best shot?

I have no problem with citizens arming to defend themselves and their property, but I do have a small problem with shooting a man for unspecified “lurking.” That one needs investigation.

But seeing armed thieves on your property? Shoot first!
