What caused Budd to crash?

Fitzroy Yearwood

There was a second accident that claimed the life of another Ladyville resident. Just before dawn, also on the twenty-first of September, between miles five and six on the Northern Highway, thirty-two year old Leonard Budd was found trapped behind the steering wheel of his Honda Accord car. While travelling to Ladyville, Budd lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a lamppost. The vehicle overturned and eventually crashed into a nearby iron gate. Budd received severe head and body injuries and was transported to the K.H.M.H where he was pronounced dead at six-thirty a.m. by a medical officer. Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood says that Budd appeared to have suffered a blowout which caused his demise.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“Ladyville police and Belize City police responded to a scene not too far from Crystal Auto Rental where they saw Leonard Budd, thirty-two years, trapped behind the steering wheel of a Hondo Accord four-door car. He was eventually removed from the vehicle where he was pronounced dead on arrival at the khmh. Our investigation so far has revealed that he was traveling alone in his car when he lost control. The car hit a nearby lamppost and then eventually ended up into a big iron gate not too far from Crystal Auto rental. I was just briefed a little while ago by the investigating officer that it would suggest that the front driver’s side wheel may have received a blowout but we will do a further examination of the vehicle and then we can determine whether or not it was indeed caused from that.”

  1. Storm says:

I’m checking the tread on my tires!

But nothing can save even a new tire from one of our famous potholes and other hazards on the highway. So slow down, and pray when driving in the Jewel. And keep your seatbelt buckled.
