SMART customer wins a free trip to U.S.A.

A San Pedro resident is the winner of a free trip for two to the US or Caribbean as well as spending money. Aloya Campos got lucky in the annual Summer Getaway promotion, done by SMART in collaboration with American Airlines. Campos, who has been a SMART customer since the service was launched in San Pedro, says she was in disbelief when she got the call, but that doubt was wiped away when she collected her plane tickets and a cheque for one thousand, five hundred dollars today. At the brief handing over this afternoon, SMART Public Relations Officer, Ian Courtenay, explained how the promotion works and we got a reaction from Campos on her winnings.

“At the beginning of the summer we partnered with American Airlines and they were gracious enough to join us in this endeavor just to give back something to our customers. So, as we said before, customers who talked would be rewarded by chances automatically and those who wanted to take a chance and felt that they were lucky could also text in and purchase chances. Of course, the prize is tickets for two to anywhere American flies in the continental US and the Caribbean and we chipped in with one thousand, five hundred dollars spending money.  Thankfully, American Airlines has always agreed to partner with us to make this possible and, you know, I feel our customers do look forward to it and one of the ways which we give back, we try to do something interesting or exciting and our customers certainly thought that this was one. So Miss Campos is the lucky winner.”

“When did you find out and what was that like?”

Aloya Campos

“Yesterday, I went to the Smart Company in San Pedro and I asked if it’s true that and they said we don’t know anything but we are going to confirm it. And I said oh my God, I just feel like so excited.”

“So have you decided where you’re gonna go?”

Aloya Campos

“Really and truly, no because my visa has already expired and my passport so I don’t have anything at this point to say that—but I was planning to give it as a gift to my sister.”
