More shootings mar the weekend

Fitzroy Yearwood

So far, we have reported on three murders and one shooting. The other incident in the old capital involves the shooting of twenty-eight year old stevedore, Raymond Arnold. On Friday night, Arnold was shot a stone’s throw away from his home. He told police that he was standing on Rivero Street when an unknown gunman shot him on the chest, chin, upper back and right leg. Police Press Officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood provided the details on that shooting as well as another incident in which a house on Cemetery Road was riddled with bullets, but no one was hurt.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“We had another shooting incident on the twenty-seventh of July. That was at seven-thirty-five p.m., Police visited the K.H.M.H. where they saw Raymond Arnold, twenty-eight year old stevedore with multiple gunshot wounds to the right side of his chest, his chin, upper back and right leg. Initial investigation reveals that Arnold was standing at the corner of Rivero Street when his attention was drawn to shots being fired in his direction. Then he realized that he was hit. We are still investigating that and we have no suspects detained for that one. In the twenty-ninth of July, around ten-fifty-five p.m., police responded to a scene on Cemetery Road where Alvin Dawson reported that he was in his house when he heard several shots being fired at his home. Nobody was hurt in this incident. Nevertheless, it is a reported shooting incident.”

Arnold remains hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. No arrests have yet been made in the three shooting incidents.

I blame this incompetent pm for all the murders in this country instead of putting laws to curb gang violence he is paying them to be good well it’s not working barrow even a blind man can see that so what is the real story why you are paying gang members are they doing your bidding I truly believe that this is the case because no one in the world that is supposed to be a leader will see all the murders in his country and do nothing but pay the same people committing the murders so belizeans am telling you your own pm is paying people to kill you. Wake up belizeans you or one of your family members might be next march march to the pm house.

  2. concern citizen-2 says:

One way of solving all the gang and killing problems is to make a strong military unit out of them.
Instead of protecting a piece of street, make them protect the whole country with pride, give them positive things to do. Let them know we could be attack by a country any day, and give them the responsibility of defending their country, and protecting the citizens instead, as I’ve said before a piece of street.
