P.U.P. deeply concerned about write-offs

Lisa Shoman

Across the floor, People’s United Party senator Lisa Shoman, shared similar concerns, particularly on the subject of records proffered by the DFC regarding loan payments made by homeowners in Mahogany Heights.

Lisa Shoman, P.U.P. Senator

“Like him I am deeply concerned and I have absolutely no doubt the Leader of Government Business must be concerned too at the incompleteness of the information that we’re being given here.  This is serious business, the people’s money, it’s fiscal responsibility and I think it bodes very ill for us to get any report from an institution such as the DFC in which we are being asked to approve write-offs or to, at least, give an opinion on it where we are not given, out of the seventy-eight persons in Mahogany Heights, fifty-nine of them don’t have a date as to when last payment was made.  And if that were the only issue maybe you would think I’d be complaining too much and splitting hairs but there’s errors all over the face of these documents, for instance, on page two of the other write-offs, the residential sector, there’s a number there, I won’t call the name, but is showing a monthly payment of ten thousand dollars when the full amount of the loan is ten thousand dollars.  Man that can’t be correct Mr. President!  How can we be asked to rely on this kind of sloppy documentation?”

The Senate addressed government’s proposal to dismiss a million dollars in education loans; a total of three hundred and thirty-five non-performing loans in the DFC’s portfolio.

PM Barrow proposes another multi-million dollar DEFICIT BUDGET and at the same time proposes giving away $2-million of the people’s money to deadbeats.

Is it fair to make these expensive gifts and pass the burden on to our children? The @\$2-million CAN BE COLLECTED if the GOB just follows the law, evicts the deadbeats, and puts in people who will pay the loans.

then that money recouped can be used for something useful to the country, like education, security, or other essentials.

I agree with the senator— no more write offs for these set of crooks who borrow and wont pay back. This is pure foolishness.

Wonder how the government expects people to pay if they are rewarded for not paying. Wonder if that would work with my GST payments, maybe if enough off us stop paying GST and Business tax, they may write it off, or maybe they will just throw us in Jail.

  6. Gary says:

Barrow pays the crimals for doing bad things and pay the home owners for not paying their loans
