Shooting on Vernon Street

A shooting incident on Mahogany Street Extension shortly after five o’clock this evening has resulted in allegations being brought against a well-known police officer.  While no one was reported injured during the shooting residents of Mayflower Street were up in arms moments later claiming that a weapon was planted on a young man who is believed to be the suspect.  According to neighbors, the young man ran through a yard situated at the corners of Vernon and Mayflower streets when he was pursued by a team of GSU officers.  Upon arresting the individual a search of the area was conducted, yielding a firearm.  Eyewitnesses, however, argue that the weapon was planted on-site and that young man who was subsequently arrested was instead the intended target of the shooting.

“Me sih Jemmott come outta wah grey thing deh so. So i gone dah mi back window and me gone peek. When I look, I see Jemmott come in an orange shirt and drop di gun down deh. I say well you noh kick no gun because I watch Jemmott put the gun down deh. Now Jemmott wah tell dehn he find di bwai with wah gun. All dehn police deh ina dah area long time. How you neva see no gun. And as Jemmott the one weh bring di gun with ahn, come and drop the gun down deh now unu find wah gun. Everybody deh out yah see. I noh know weh fi call ahn, he find the gun. But everybody deh yah long, long time and noh find no gun. Jemmott just walk yah less than five minutes; but find the gun. So weh he now? Angel fi see the gun mi deh down deh. No man. Jemmott chancy.
