Veteran Sportscaster exciting sports update

Good evening. I’m James Adderley and this is Sports Monday.

The rains over the weekend played havoc with the sporting schedule forcing cancellations and postponements in most advertised activities and in fact, only the Interoffice Basketball League demonstrated signs of life here in the metropolis. So we take you out to Big Bird’s Isle where Friday night concluded 3 Basketball Games in the current season. We caught up with the opener between 5 & 2 Alamilla’s Furniture M.O.E. and 3 & 3 Youth For the Future as the mad scramble to make the 8 team playoffs heats up. Carlisle Barrow gets the 1st bucket of the ballgame by going glass after beating the Youth For the Future down court for 2 of his 8 game points.  Kenroy “MVP” usher then gets YFF on to the scoreboard with this individual effort. Usher would put up 19 points in this outing. At the end of the 1st quarter, Alamilla’s is up 17-12.

For YFF, the big man tonight is Brian White and on this feed from Bernard Felix, he goes to the left hand and would lead his team with an impressive 2 double of 24 points 15 rebounds. He would emerge chairman of the boards. At the other end, Robert Ferguson hooks up with Shane Roches who sinks the triple for 3 of 12 points. Rosales would go 2 for 5 from beyond the arc. Brandon Rogers then hits this bucket from around the charity stripe for 2 of his 11 game points as Alamilla’s M.O.E. begin to pull away.  YFF shows pretty ball movement on this play as Marlon Myers finds Kenroy Usher who deals to Brian White and the 2 is automatic. However, at the half, Alamilla’s MOE has extended the lead to 8 points.

Folks in 3rd quarter, Alamilla’s blow the ballgame wide open. Carlisle Barrow spots Kevin Lorenzo streaking down court unattended and reaches him for the easy bucket. Watch this nice feed from Lorenzo to John Rudon who goes lefty to the glass. Meanwhile under heavy defense from Brian White, Carlisle Barrow goes glass and would come up the only 4 points conversion of the outing. From the other side of the arc, Shane Rosales wants 3 and gets 3. It’s more Rosales when Peton Belisle forces the turnover from Brian White—Rosales picks up the loose ball and rolls down court for the easy 2.  At the end of 3, Alamilla’s MOE has established a 59 – 45 lead. They would go on to post the 75 – 61 big WIN over Youth For the Future to now show a record of 6 wins 2 loses. Coming up this Friday, June 22nd, Police will take on Youth For the Future, Quan’s Trading goes to work against CYDP and B.T.L. hooks up with Alamilla.

Turning to the softball scene, St. Jude Primary School got past Belize Rural Primary School 6 to 1 to grab the National Female Championship Friday at the MCC Grounds while Independence Primary rolled over Roaring Creek Nazarene 10-zip to earn the Male title in 2012. Pitcher, Renisha Richards of St. Jude’s Primary of Cayo took home MVP Female honors and her male counterpart was Gregory Almendarez of Independence who pitched the shut-out in the championship match. Congratulations to all who participate.

In news from C-Sports Belize; Justin, Jeremy and Jermaine Sanchez of three the hard way took the Father’s Day Canoe Race with Sprouts; featuring Kenrick, Michael and Wilberto Daniels taking second while Gold Nuggets finished third.

Finally folks, the rain forced the postponement of Saturday’s King of the Park Basketball Marathon being presented by the Hattieville United Youths Sporting Club. This competition is now set for Saturday, 23rd June. You don’t want to miss it. it will be a busy day for the Hattieville Community because the annual fifteen football marathon is also said to kick off at ten a.m. on Saturday. Enjoy.

Jah over all, I’m James Adderley.
