Cayo’s top cop says crime is down

Even though, the residents say that violence in Cayo has escalated to the point where some don’t even report crimes because they have lost faith in the police, the Officer Commanding the San Ignacio Police, says statistic show that crime is down.

“The numbers will reflect that crime, compared to last year is down. But you have to understand that if you look at the crime from a monthly perception, that it fluctuates, it does not remain steady. Sometimes it’s up then it comes down then it goes up again and it all depends on the society itself. I can assure you all however, that the police department through our new leadership with Minister John Saldivar are doing the best we could to try and reduce crime across the country of Belize. We know that it is not an easy task because crime will not be solved by only the police, it also requires citizen participation. Thank God for San Ignacio, Santa Elena area we do have the citizens participation in fighting crime. So I believe that within the Cayo area, particularly San Ignacio, Santa Elena, we will continue to see a reduction in crime.”
Is this man living in wonder land this gov. Thinks that all belizeans are idiots worse pm and gov. In the history of Belize we are en route to 1000 murders for the year and this man is saying crime is down I mean it’s bizarre , instead he should be looking for the murderer of the little girl instead of talking garbage.

how can we expect things to improve if this is the official line. spin, spin, spin that is all the UDP is doing, restore belize, every week a UDP is profiled, both Singh brothers now are TV talk show host, saying that things a beautifiul in the jewel, crime is down, business is up lets all be merry.
