Fire in Taylor’s Alley
On Thursday night an old building in the Taylor’s Alley was burned down. Firefighters were quick on the scene to put out the blaze which was in the middle of other residences.
Benisford Matura, Operations Officer, Belize Fire Service
“The department got a call about eight-thirty last night for number forty-nine Taylor’s Alley. We arrived at the location within two to three minutes and upon arrival we found two storey wooden structure totally engulfed in fire.”
Andrea Polanco
“That building was abandoned at the time?”
Benisford Matura
“Yeah, it was abandoned for like twenty-five years according to the neighbors nuh, the owner lives in the U.S.”
Andrea Polanco
“So far has your investigation revealed what caused the fire?”
Benisford Matura
“Well since it’s abandoned and don’t have any occupant living there. We gathered information again from the neighbors that it is frequent by drug users and earlier that same night one of them spot someone with a candle lit in the building nuh so we believe that that’s what started the fire.”
The building burned to the ground and while it stood in a populated area, no one was injured and surrounding structures were saved.
One less crack house.
