Mother held on drug trafficking charges

Deborah Myvette

Deborah Myvette, an employee at the Housing Department, appeared in court today to answer charges of drug trafficking following the discovery of separate quantities of cocaine inside her West Street residence.  On July third, 2011 a team of officers attached to the Gang Suppression Unit conducted a raid at Myvette’s home where they found nine grams and six point nine grams of cocaine stowed in a purse and a chest of drawers.  Myvette, who was initially arrested along with four others, appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer where officers who carried out the operation testified that the drugs belonged to Myvette.  Attorney Ellis Arnold entered a no case submission requesting that the court should not admit as evidence a confession statement given by Myvette following the drug bust.  The senior magistrate, in her ruling, stated that she was not convinced that the prosecution proved its case against the other four individuals, Myvette’s son Tarique Tzul, his girlfriend Christine Bowman, her thirteen year old son and Alton Aldana who were subsequently dismissed of the charges.  Myvette’s defense will be heard on June twelfth.
