Meighan back in court for Aggravated Assault against cop

An eighteen year old was remanded to prison on Tuesday for Aggravated Assault and Discharging a Firearm in Public. Today, Tyrone Meighan was back in court on additional charges following an alleged confrontation with a cop at the Queen Street Police Station. Meighan is again being accused of Aggravated Assault, this time upon PC Andres Hernandez. He was also charged for Using Threatening Words. According to Hernandez, he was among the officers on duty when Meighan was taken out of his holding cell on Monday to be escorted to the CIB office. Hernandez says he had to assist the other officers because Meighan refused to cooperate when he was being handcuffed. But as PC Hernandez attempted to handcuff him, Meighan allegedly pushed him on the chest and started to struggle with the cop. The other officers assisted and they eventually subdued Meighan, but as he was being taken away, he reportedly told Hernandez; “Watch weh ah wah do you; ah wah shot yoh, I got lot ah gun.” In court, Meighan pleaded not guilty to the two charges and Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart adjourned the matter until July fifth. The initial charges of Aggravated Assault and Discharging a Firearm in Public resulted from an incident on June second at the AES compound on Cemetery Road. And while he was charged for allegedly assaulting security guard, Henry Lammey, both Lammey and his wife have since indicated that Meighan did not actually shoot at him. Instead, they say he was firing at two watch dogs that were with Lammey.

This Meighan name is one that you hear a lot of lately. If history repeats its self, it won’t be long before he becmes a statistic. Look back at the Arthur Young, slushers and all the names you hear over and over, they are D-E-A-D. SO LET THIS BOY HAVE HIS DAY IN THE SUN HE WILL RIP VERY SOON.
He needs to be behind bars for a long time. Because if not, it’s just a matter of time before he’s going to kill somebody with his ‘lot ah gun’.

I agree with you mankind, too many ppl making judgements about situations they think they know about, and labeling others, instead of trying to find solutions to help these “at risk youths”…. Sad, but true that too many of these youths are doomed. No hope for their present, or future.
@ mankind, I agree with you. Too many of these “at risk youths” come from homes and environments that make it almost impossible togrow up decent. Then there are also too many people who are judgemental and think they know everything they need to, draw their conclusions. Real sad, no “real help available to make a good and lasting difference.” These youths are doomed in their present and future.
