Family alleges cops beat their loved one
While the Police Department has its hands full with the weekend shootings and murders, the Ladyville Police Formation has also been busy. Apparently officers were apprehending a suspect who ran away and fired shots in the bush behind Liberty School. But the family of Travis McKay claims that the police may have used unjust force. They say McKay ran because he is the usual suspect that officers finger for offenses. Mckay’s wife and sister told News Five that they had received very little information from the department about his condition, while neighbors told them that he was unnecessarily roughed up by the cops.
Chelsie McKay, Sister of Travis McKay
“My bredda mi deh by some friend’s house and then the police dehn come deh so. But the police always when they see him, dah noh the first time dehn shoot after ahn. And then when they see ahn, they shoot after him and he run. And then after that they shoot like four time and then wah next four times and then several more shots—so dah bout twelve shots they shoot at him.”
Kimberly Cassanova, Wife of Travis McKay
“Weh Travis deh cause I hear shot di buss and he always have to di run from them because they always the try hurt ahn. So he fear dehn. Anyways, we reach dah the end of the mouth deh—I noh member what the road name—but I run through mud and water; shot di buss, shot di buss after the other. When I reach front yah, I had to climb over wah barbwire fence, tear up my dress fi get over the fence because the police the look pan me and tell me—point gun ina my face. I tell you my whole body di tremble. I di say even if somebody do wah crime, they need fi stop deal with it that way. It does not make sense. The children in the school di scream out stop police, stop! Stop! Dehn di try help di young man, what is that trying to tell you? Babies, preschool, they are that intelligent fi know how chancy the police dehn get. The next one walk through that yard deh di come so. While one got ahn pan the ground; ih face done di bleed; police literally had di gun over his head. Over his head and di tell him no move. While he is saying that he noh di try get up, the next police man stamp ahn ina ih face; make ih face lick down pan the ground. ih had on this pan ih head when ih start. When I look and I see he, this mi deh on pan ih head. They mussi kick ahn so hard, this come off of his head. That’s not the way to treat a human being. All of them kids in that school mussi wah traumatize for the rest of their life.”
Chelsie McKay
“We deh ya from morning, dehn noh di tell we nothing. They walk pass we and they go into the station and they tell we nothing. They say he is perfectly fine, nobody touch ahn and nothing noh happen to ahn when people from the area see my bredda di bleed up all over ih body.”
Jose Sanchez
“Okay, you are very concerned and you just want to see the condition of your brother; that he gets the medical help?”
Chelsie McKay
“Yes, we just want dehn ker ahn da hospital and dehn tend to ahn because we noh know weh happen to ah. I noh want whatever, if ih get shot—they say ih noh get shot and I think if ih mi get shot dehn mi wah ker ahn dah hospital—but at least go and check up pan the injuries weh ih get.”
Jose Sanchez
“Did the police at least tell you why they went after your brother?”
Chelsie McKay
“Yes they tell we pending investigation for a burglary.”
Jose Sanchez
“But they have been seeking him out as you’ve mentioned that he has been shot at before?”
Chelsie McKay
“Yah. Several times dehn shoot after ahn.”
Jose Sanchez
“But at this time they haven’t told you what charges, if any, have been levied against him?”
Chelsie McKay
“Burglary at a school; that was what we were told.”
To d wife of Travis…if ur husband lived his life rite he wouldnt b in this predicament. He is a scum bag he goes out there and make people’s life a living hell. So now it’s time for him to get a taste of his own medicine.
True what u said. But that give no right for police officers to beat up suspects.
Sad to say this happens very often and nothig is ever done about it.
Officers always do what they want because every ne else covers for them
Very corrupt.
Trust me Travis Mckay is no saint and I am one to applaud the Ladyville Police for their swift action. If he was innocent he did not need to run… Kudos to the officers.
