French nationals victim of Cayo Home invasion

Fitzroy Yearwood

Violent crime was not limited to Belize City.  In Bullet Tree Falls Village of the Cayo District, two elderly persons were the victims of a home invasion. Around eleven-thirty p.m. on Thursday, sixty-nine year old Gilles Chereau, a retired French Photographer and his mother, ninety-one year old Yolande Chereau, were inside their home they were attacked by three men. Gilles was knocked unconscious and awoke to find both his hands and feet tied.  The robbers stole a flat screen television, a digital camera and a laptop computer. Police say they have apprehended three persons in connection with the incident.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“Sometime around nine p.m. he was in his house when he heard his dogs barking and upon making checks, he saw a man running with a machete inside his house. He attempted to chase that man and was hit from behind by someone. He lost consciousness and when he regained consciousness, he realized that he was tied up—both hands and feet—and that they stole a television; a flat screen television, a camera and a laptop from his residence. Luckily his mother that was in the house with him wasn’t harmed.”

“Two persons have been detained?”

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood

“We have three persons detained—a seventeen year old and two others—in connection with this investigation.”

Police have since detained a seventeen year old minor and eighteen year old Jacob Banner, both of Bullet Tree Village.  They also apprehended twenty year old Alfredo Bidillo of Alta Vista Village, of Stann Creek for questioning.

It’s a bad crime, I hope our law enforcement professionals can solve it and convict the robbers, and lock them up to die in prison. Robbers like these don’t deserve to live amongst us.

  2. Eye in the Sky says:

They will be on bail for several years (while they rob and hurt more innocent persons) and then they might get a month or less in jail if Gilles is lucky.
By the time the court case comes up the victims items will be outdated and maybe broken down.
