Beltraide gets into the magazine business
Invest Belize Magazine; it is a new publication, the first of its kind that will be published in October of this year. Beltraide partnered with Idea Lab Studios to create a high level business and investment magazine that will be used to promote Belize as an investment destination. The magazine will be distributed internationally, where it is hoped that the tool will attract the interest of investors and by extension spur growth of the business sector. News Five spoke with Nilda Riverol of Beltraide:
Nilda Riverol, Events Planner & PR Coordinator, BELTRAIDE
“Beltraide in collaboration with Idea Lab is sponsoring the development of a high level business investment magazine. We are putting it out there so that we are giving our businesses, government and any other person who is willing to advertise the opportunity to sell their product services and to sell Belize overall as an investment destination.”
Andrea Polanco
“So what’s your target market in terms of sending this magazine outside?”
Nilda Riverol
“We are going to distribute this magazine free of cost to international Belizean offices overseas such as our embassies, our Diaspora organizations abroad. We also expect to have this magazine with those on international road shows and also we are going to distribute it regionally to international organizations as well as locally at specific locations because of the quality of the magazine.”
Andrea Polanco
“This is a first. What can we expect when we open that magazine?”
Nilda Riverol
“Expect articles; we are going to have featured articles on respective writers, we are going to feature the industries, sectors as well as success stories of investors and our own business people that have been successful in their entrepreneurial projects in Belize.”
Andrea Polanco
“So what is it that Beltraide hopes to achieve through the publication of this magazine?”
Nilda Riverol
“Basically to expose Belize for what it is—a destination for trade and investment. A lot of people have misconceptions and it is very difficult to sell Belize as a personal perspective. So we are hoping to reach a bigger market globally so that they can begin to see Belize for what it is—for the opportunities that we have to offer as it relates to trade and investments precisely, which is our focus right now.”
Andrea Polanco
“So just share with us when we can expect to see the first publication?”
Nilda Riverol
“We have two publications—because it is an initial trial for the project. So we have the first publication on October thirty-first of this year and we have the second publication which is expected to be published on April thirtieth next year. So we are urging the advertisers or people who are willing to purchase ads to contact Idea Labs—Mister Domian Solano—to secure their ad page because it is an eighty page magazine so there are very limited; first come, first serve basis.”
Riverol says that depending on the response generated, they will expand the magazine to a quarterly publication. Riverol says that Beltraide is currently working with Idea Lab Studios to construct a website where the magazine can be accessed.
It’s a beginning, to let people know about Belize. But foreign investors didn’t accumulate capital by being fools — we need many changes to make Belize attractive to investors. If you read what foreign sources say about investing here, there are serious concerns about the integrity of our courts [I wonder why!], the insecurity of land title, high crime rates, and public corruption.
If you have money to invest, and can place it anywhere in the world, would Belize be YOUR top choice?
But we need foreign investment to create jobs that are the best way to end poverty. This magazine is a first step, What will be the next?
The attacks on Investors is also working agains this initiative. Look at what they did to the McAfee guiy….
One had pushing for investment and the other choking investors and chasing them away.
If the investors read the recently published McAfee story they will keep their hands and money off Belize.
