Independent Mayoral Candidate ready
Now, it would be safe to say that the municipal elections have been eclipsed by the general elections and independent candidates have had insignificant political advertising. Independent mayoral candidate Stephen Okeke was still working the streets of downtown Belize City at midday this afternoon where he was distributing copies of his manifesto. Okeke is a one man band; he braved the inclement weather of the past two days to ensure that no stone is left unturned.
Stephen Okeke, Independent Mayoral Candidate
“I’m not taking anything for granted so I keep on working. I keep on trying to make a stronger case or trying to consolidate my case because you don’t want to leave any edge unhemmed. I’ve already made a case over the years, not from today and I’m so pleased that a lot of Belizeans are not just seeing what I’m doing right now but what I have already represented over the years, experience and capacity to deliver. Not just promise but guaranteed experience and delivery everybody can see.”
Isani Cayetano
“Based on your campaign efforts over the past several weeks how confident are you that the Belizean people will respond to you favorably as the next mayor.”
Stephen Okeke
“I am very confident that they will respond to me favorably but as I said again you don’t take anything for granted. So far the goodwill has been great, the outpouring of support has been very great but I can’t take anything for granted so I go on working to make sure everybody has that choice. You’re not just constrained between two political parties but you’re aware of the alternatives and you’re aware of the quality and the delivery that alternative provides. I am one of the only persons in the candidacy which can say has overt experience, overt delivery, not promising to create jobs but has been creating jobs already. I’m just asking for the opportunity to expand the job creation, has been creating industries already, has been able to manufacture. And when I say we can make Belize more beautiful than Chetumal I’m not just saying it I show it.”
