On the Campaign Trail with P.U.P. Albert’s David Craig

David Craig

Our campaign trail today followed David Craig, the People’s United Party’s point man in Albert. Craig was placed on the ticket following the resignation of longtime area representative Mark Espat earlier this month. Despite the late start, Craig has hit the ground running and is knocking on as many doors in the constituency as time permits.  A lifelong resident of the area, Craig is confident that he will once again deliver the historically blue Albert Division to his party on Election Day.  The P.U.P. standard bearer is an employee of Bowen and Bowen and well known for the Coca-COLA Spelling Bee.

David Craig, P.U.P., Albert Division Standard Bearer

“It has been going fabulously. I’ve only had one week; I think today might be the eighth of ninth day on the campaign trail because I got the latest start from out of all the thirty-one constituencies. But you know something, it doesn’t matter. This is the Albert division; a true blue division. My strategy is to go into the homes. I am not dealing with posts, the signage and everything like that. I think the people in this division are extremely intelligent. They know what they are going through right now and they have embraced me in all of their homes. It has been a tremendous show of support for the P.U.P. and for the work that Mister Mark Espat has done in this division. Our strategy is to win this division for continued progress. He has done a tremendous job out here. All his people have given me his support and I am out here just basking in it but putting in the hard work. I get off work around midday and I come out here with Mister Sydney Fuller—he is no stranger to this area; as a matter of fact, he knows everybody in this area. We are building on tradition of a strong P.U.P. on South side in the Albert division. My background on engineering, I’ve been in business for twenty-seven years. I have the skills that it takes to lead this division and serve on the P.U.P. national executive committee. I was born in Albert, I live in Albert, I work in Albert, I am here for Albert. This is our platform that we are standing on: someone that is really strong, someone that has a skill set that we can use to serve our people here. I have sat in people’s homes, entered very humbly requested, sat in their chairs, sat on the ground in some of the homes and I have seen the poverty that exist here in Albert and I have consulted with them. What are their needs? And this is what we are going to do when we win in march seventh—at least this division—I’m going to serve my people here.”

News Five will join U.D.P. standard-bearer Herman Longsworth on the campaign trail in the Albert Constituency on Monday.
