5 year old accident victim needs help

Damion Flowers

At the start of this month, we brought you the unfortunate story of a five year old boy who was knocked down on a pedestrian crossing by an inattentive driver in Santa Elena. Damion Flowers was on his way to school with other relatives on January twenty-sixth when a Toyota Tacoma ran him over. His family is poor and has run into problems because the driver of the Tacoma refuses to assist with medical bills and today his mother, Juanita Vanegas told News Five that the insurance company is also not cooperating. According to Vanegas, Damion’s condition is worsening and they are in need of financial assistance for the many trips he has to make to the hospital.

What kind of laws are we dealing with in Belize, the person responsible for this crime and that what it is a crime should be charged and if they have insurance they should also pay up. This is really sad for this family to struggle like this. But, as usual it is not what you know but, who you know. If it was missa this and missa that child, they would be treated right away their would be no problem. That’s Belize fi yu.

it is just out right disgusting… that someone knocks a little boy down and the authorities do no get involved to help the child… this case is an open and closed case.. the woman that knocked down the child stopped and acknowledge hitting the strict liability should apply: that is since she knocked down the child her or her insurance should be covering all medical expenses. But also it has to do that the insurance companies like to BS people around so as not to pay a cent.. this is when the police and authorities should act to protect those that are vulnerable.. this is a shame for the DPP…. i am sure she listens to the news and have heard of this case.

So sad, I honestly think that both the insurance and the driver should be sued, civil action should be taken on both. Also where are our attorneies, cant they do some work as a good will gesture and have it written off against there business tax, as a donation. This is a child we are talking about, and it is clear that his mom/family is struggeling to make him comortable. Have we as Belizeans lost the humanitarian side. Help is desperately needed for this child. Thank you Dr Godoy for your help, hopefully more of our professionals in our society would do the same for young Damion.

when you are stopped at police check points, the first they check is your insurance, I can carry a sack of primo in my trunk, but the police is worried about insurance. I always think the insurance companuies must pay them something. they have the sweetest deal , we by law are forced to purchase vehicle insurance every year, they get the police who are paid with our money to check that we have paid properly and timely and then they DONT pay when an ACCIDENT occurs. something wrong!!

they need to take her truck away and sell it to pay the little boy medical bill, and the insurance need to pay also the baby shouldn’t have to punish because her lame @$$ was on her cell phone,if she can’t pay put her in jail.
