Robbed, kidnapped and released

Dwight Montero

A daring early evening alleged kidnapping that ended in robbery has been reported. The victim, Dwight Montero, an employee of Citrus Products of Belize, says it started in Cayo over the weekend but a police report says the incident was a robbery that took place in Trial Farm.  The police claim  that at around four thirty Sunday evening forty-two year old Montero was at GAMIS Hotel when he was accosted by a pair of armed men who forced him inside a room where they proceeded to pistol whip him in the back of the head.  Both men then bound Montero’s hands and feet together, tying his shirt over his head.  He was then relieved of a gold chain, a cell phone, a wristwatch and three hundred and fifty dollars after which his assailants made good their escape in his green Toyota Hilux which also contained a laptop and a First Caribbean Bank checkbook.  The combined total of Montero’s losses is sixty-three thousand, nine hundred and fifty dollars.  Orange Walk police are investigating the incident as a robbery despite Montero’s account that he was also the victim of a kidnapping. Montero says he wants help in locating his vehicle.
