Chandra Cansino for Caribbean Shores

Chandra Nisbet Cansino

So Chandra Nisbet Cansino, with the backing of Perdomo’s divisional office and perhaps Singh’s capital will prove a challenge to the savvy Santino Castillo. Cansino’s name is not as known as Castillo but she does carry strong support and endorsement from Kim Simpliss Barrow. But today, it was Perdomo who introduced Cansino as the perfect choice for Caribbean Shores.

Carlos Perdomo

“I think that Chandra exhibits the qualities that we prefer of being honest, of coming from a career of nursing that looks after people. We believe that that will make her a wonderful, socially inclined person which in our government today, we are saying that we are a government of the poorer type of people—the people who need medication, the people on the street who need attention. And we believe that Chandra’s experienced at the KHMH and Social Security will lead her into that direction. We also think that even though she is a little inexperience in political affairs, she does come from a very strong, politically active home. You all will remember Misses Diana Nisbet and Jerry Nisbet and we believe that while her exposure has been limited, her background to political activity and campaigning has not. We believe that she is very honest. We believe that she brings to Caribbean Shores a new direction—the youth that we talked about, the new image and power of women in development.”

“It wasn’t easy getting the confidence of the committee behind me. It was something I had to work for and I am still working for because it was a group of people that really want to know; I mean I was interrogated like the FBI on my commitment and what I had to offer and my dedication. And it is based on my responses to them and meetings and conversations late in the night that we came to a decision to move forward together. So it really wasn’t a power play like some of the media houses are portraying it to be. It was honestly about reviewing what we had all put out and deciding what would be the best way forward. The usual topics or the usual issues of drainage, safety, security have all come up. I believe as an area representative the importance of collaboration si very important because we need to collaborate with people who can make the changes in Caribbean Shores. As a nurse, I’m very concerned about the health and the safety Caribbean Shores and Belize on a whole—it’s a national constant for me. Of course we can start with Caribbean Shores and promoting a lot of health and safety within this division. We are still in the process of getting information from the constituents on what they really want—there are different needs in different areas and working on a plan forward.”

Jose Sanchez

“Some people are assuming that you have the highest support there is in the U.D.P. who else is backing other than these two gentlemen?”

Chandra Nisbet Cansino

“Well first and foremost, the support that is most important to me is the support of the constituents of Caribbean Shores; that is the endorsement that I seek. And you will find that in the persons of Mr. Perdomo, Mr. Singh and even Mrs. Barrow, who si the person that I feel was most important in making my decision in running for the candidacy for Caribbean Shores. So those are the people that have publicly endorsed me so far and to me those are the most important people because they are not only political higher up s in the U.D.P. but they are also members of the Caribbean Shores constituency.”

Aside from Castillo and Cansino, the other contender is Ann-Marie Williams.

Once again poor judgment by Perdomo. U do not back a canidate who has ties with the other party whether it is blood ties or merely marriage ties. How will they be sure that she will not pass info to the other side if her views are side lined by her cabinet colleagues if UDP wins the next election? PUP is smarter they are not going to nominate Sharole Saldivar because they cant be too sure where her loyalty lies.

Perdomo’s support could be a kiss of death!

He was messing up remember! I would not want his support if I was running!
