National Team prepares for Tuesday game in Guatemala

The Grenada game is the past and the Belize National Football Selection does not have any time to rest. That is because on Tuesday next week, the team will have a rematch with Guatemala’s national team. Belize lost the home game and the second in the series takes place in Guatemala. Bernaldino Pech, Football Federation of Belize’s Senior Vice President, spoke about the preparation for Tuesday’s match.

Bernaldino Pech, Senior Vice President, F.F.B.

Bernaldino Pech

“The team leaves on Saturday for Guatemala and the reports that we’ve been able to gather is that Guatemala is not taking anything for granted. They know that they escaped with a victory from Belize and I understand that they are bringing in some more foreign based players, some of their top guns are coming in—like Dwight Pesirosi, a player that I don’t remember his name at this time, but who si the top scorer in Chile at the moment. Along with the ones that they had here; like Marco Papas from the MLS as well—he is also on the call-up for Tuesday. It will be a tough matchup, but with a good game plan and with our boys playing at their best, I think we can give the surprise to Guatemala on Tuesday.”

Jose Sanchez

“Are you aware if that game will be televised anywhere on any particular station?”

Bernaldino Pech

“It will probably be on Guatemala TV and the game will be at eight o’clock on Tuesday.”

I figured something was wrong when we lost to Grenada. Can anyone remember the Mexico game a few years ago.— We played Mexico good in the US. Held up very good —- Belizean players were impresive!!!!!! Then they did not get paid —– what happened next we lost by a greater margin when we visited the Mexican in Mexico!!!!!

Hope the same thing does not happen in Guatemala!

Its a real shame that our National players are not being paid properly — $50 to go to Guatemala — this is a real Shame — real shame!!!!! Minister of Sports — you have to do something about this ——— Belizeans on a whole something must be done about this —-

It is clear that the Belizean team needs some spanish and latino players…and i must say that the ministry of sports and coach should recruit some other players other than sticking to players from Belize city and the south…I strongly believe that out there in the country especially orange walk and corozal districts there are players that have the real capacity to bring up the quality of soccer in the belizean team…come on belize, we need to step up our game. Recruit better players!!!!!!!

its a real shame that the players are not being paid properly…but we must have in mind that most of these players are clearly not in the professional level as yet…so the money isnt that much of importance when you still are a semi pro…after all…out there are other players that would play for the national team just for the sake of their belizean pride and NOT just for the money but to try to do something good for the country…

Thats a real stupid comment to do there Mr. Blaise. Pay the men them what they deserve. i can almost be sure in my suggestion that you might be one of those who would rather pocket the money and have thats types of thinking. learn to be a leader, not a follower. God bless Belize.
