Its alright for GoB to be onsulting the public regading the 9th. I don’t think we would want to find out in the news that some amendment or secret agreement has been given effect by GoB without the people having been consulted. Also it is not like GoB is spending thousands upon thousands on the 9th. All that GoB is spending in terms of resources is the 3 or so hours per consultation which the committee members devote to the consultatitons. The only other resources I can imagine are fuel for the Committee members to get to the consultation. The members of the committee are salaried employees of the state. so i dont think 5 thousand or so which is a rough figure on misellaneous epenses can make magic happen and take crime away. In my opinion it does not bother me one bit that the GoB is having consultations. Consulting with the public shows that democracy is alive. I can’t see how one could rationally complain becuase the very same people would be saying how come we neva have consultation if GoB did not hold consultations. That’s just part of the way a large section of Belizeans, myself included think. We complain no matter what GoB does becaise it makes us forget that at the end of the day it is our personal responsibility to strive to make life for our families better ionstead of looking 4 hand outs when there are people who genuinely need hand outs.

As an outsider the couple times I listen to the consultations it is obvious that these consultations are favored by the current party in power – they are in control, they have the resources (money) they are paying people to go and say YES to the 9 (Don’t you all notice the visibility of the T-shirts that are worn by the supporters of the 9( this has a cost??????). The violence and crime in our country is out of order – notice even the very people who are supposed to be protecting the public (police) are deeply involved in crime, our children are NO longer safe. Belizeans we need to wake up, Belize is for us.
