Business owners recognized robbers
The Hyde’s are still tallying up the loss and Alvin says they have been targeted by thieves several times since opening their supermarket and meat shot near the Michael Finnegan Market. This time, he says he recognized the gunman, who had visited the business before the robbery. Angela’s advice to the thieves is to go protect the borders and be bad with the Guatemalans.
Alvin Hyde Jr.
“We noh really check up yet but so far I would ah seh eena di range ah four to six hundred dollars because dah mi di evening sales right.”
Delahnie Bain
“And it was just one single gunman?”
Alvin Hyde Jr.
“Well at the time I reach here it was one, but another one was outside according to my wife. I noh si di one outside, I just si di one inside.”
Delahnie Bain
“Did he bother to cover his face or anything?”
Alvin Hyde Jr.
“No, bare face, ih neva cova down.”
Delahnie Bain
“Is it anyone you recognize from around here?”
Alvin Hyde Jr.
“I think I recognize him as a customer very observing. Like ih move around like ih di check stats sometimes. I check ah out bout two different times. But ih mi look like a cool guy so I neva expect it.”
Delahnie Bain
“And how are you guys holding up today after that experience?”
Alvin Hyde Jr.
“Well, dah noh di first, dah noh di second, dah noh di third time since we deh yah dat dis happen. Just dat di last two—one was a break in and this robbery—those were the two serious ones.”
Angela Hyde
“Me di work fi mines. I di tell unnu get up and go out deh. I tell unnu already when unnu broke eena mi place, go pan di border line go show we how bad unnu bad and defend fi we country noh come di try deprive me ah weh I di work fa cause if dah job unnu mi want, I could give unnu wah job but unnu noh ready young bwai.”
Alvin and Angela say they are not being scared away and that they are now considering getting a licensed firearm to protect themselves.
please please please get a licensed firearm…and shoot the next one, mek the rest get the sense. i do not condone violence, but i do condone self-defense and i do condone justice…so if u recognize the guy and the law does nothing about it, then do what you have to do!
It is a damn shame that these thieves don’t give these people a fighting chance to survive. I can’t believe this only one of the last Belizean grocery stores in Belize city and we have jackasses like these trying to put these out of business. I hope they shoot them up when and if they come back. Mrs.Hyde I like your spirit but, be careful.
yeah shoot them down, so the rest could learn from that and if they don’t learn the next ones that goes in shoot them also and keep shooting them. That’s why we need this 9th amendment past because of these babd people.
PEEPS!!!!!
