Murder on Gwen Liz High School Compound

Justin Roches

There is another murder in the City to report tonight, it’s the second for this week and it happened less than twenty-hours after the first. On Wednesday evening sometime around six, a gun man fired several shots fatally wounding twenty year old Justin Roches. He was getting ready to play a game of basketball at the Gwen Liz compound when a quarrel between two men resulted in his murder. It appears that he was not involved in the altercation, but was a victim of circumstances. His grieving family didn’t wish to give details of the murder but Police Press Officer; Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood says Roches was shot in the chest.

Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“Police responded to a shooting incident where Justin Roches was apparently shot on the basketball court at Gwen Lizarraga High school, some time after six yesterday evening. Our investigation have led us to understand that two young men who were playing basketball also were involved in an altercation, when one left and return a short time after with a firearm and open fire at the person that he was involved in the altercation with. And that person escaped unhurt, he then turn the firearm towards Justin Roches when he fatally injured him.”

Andrea Polanco

“So Roches wasn’t involved in that altercation any at all?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“Well Andrea we’ll have to go more into the investigation to find out but the indications are it was not his altercation initially.”

Andrea Polanco

“So approximately how many shots were fired?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“Andrea, that’s a part of the investigation, we’ll leave that part for now.”

Andrea Polanco

“Can you tell us where he was injured?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“The chest area.”

Andrea Polanco

“So any suspects at this time?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“We know who we are looking for. We have several persons detained who we are questioning and hopefully we will apprehend the orchestrator of this crime very soon.”

Andrea Polanco

“With regards to Justin Roches, I understand he was shot in 2009. The police able to confirm or ascertain if his murder is somehow connected to that incident back in 2009?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“Andrea, two different two different shootings. First of all in all honesty to you in 2009 I was on sick leave so I wouldn’t be able to answer that question to you properly and I wasn’t the Press Officer at the time. But from what our investigators are saying, I did mention that to them and they’re saying by no means are the two shooters the same.”

Roches was rushed to the KHMH where he died undergoing surgery sometime around nine last night. In January of this year, Roches was acquitted of firearm charges after police found a 9mm pistol in an SUV he was travelling in with two other people. Back in January 2009, Roches was shot in the abdomen in the St. Martin’s Area, but survived.

It’s a shame how these dirty stinking cowardly murderers keep walking the streets of Belize armed with their weapons and the police don’t even have the sense to recognize them riding their bicycles and toting their backpacks, why can’t the police start pulling these suspicious characters over and take their guns away and throw them in jail, looks like the minister of police went in exile not a peep out of him, I bet he is collecting that big check though, must be doing his personal business getting rich while the people pay his unearned salary. Remember My Legacy B4 My People.

It seems he always answers every question with (We don’t know anything) at this time, when ask what the police is doing about the murder of our citizens.
