Lisa Elizabeth Matute behind bars for aggravated burglary with a knife

Lisa Elizabeth Matute

Violent crime is not only being committed by men. The following report has landed two female neighbors before the court. The aggressor is accused of barging into her neighbor’s home, armed with a knife and that is why thirty-three year old Lisa Elizabeth Matute isn’t at her own home tonight. Matute was arraigned before Magistrate Emerson Banner this morning for Aggravated Burglary with a knife. She pleaded not guilty, but could not meet bail of eight thousand dollars and was remanded to the Central Prison. The alleged victim, thirty-two year old Mirna Chi, claims that just after midnight on Friday, Matute stormed into her house on West Street and caused over one thousand dollars in damage. Reports are that the two women were involved in an argument during which Matute set chase after Chi, who ran into the house and hid inside a bedroom. When Matute could not get to her, she allegedly began to break household items. The case has been adjourned until September first and if Matute doesn’t want to stay behind bars until then, she will meet bail and pay an outstanding fine of two hundred and five dollars, which is owed to the court from a 2006 conviction for Harm.
