Lisa Shoman questions government appeal to CCJ

Government has already indicated that it will appeal the court ruling to the Caribbean Court of Justice. Shoman questions what’s the point of the appeal?

Lisa Shoman, Senator/Attorney

“If di first time yoh tek it yoh neva tek it fi wha good reason, how you wah come long and she I wah change di reason dem and den when I tek it this time, I will then have taken for a good reason. Show me that magic wand because then I will tell you that that magic wand is against the rule of law.”

“But does this amendment or will this amendment have any effect on what happens at the CCJ?”

“I don’t believe it will. I do not believe it will and the prime minister cannot say with a straight face that he believes that it will.”

William Neal

“Does it have to be taken to the CCJ?”

Lisa Shoman

“Well he says he is going to appeal it. If he was so right why bother to appeal it?”

The senator appeared on this morning’s Open Your Eyes.
