Suspicious aircraft hovers in vicinity of Maya King Village

A suspicious aircraft was sighted hovering across Southern Belize earlier today.  While the plane did not make its landing, local authorities were alerted and are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.  The suspicious plane sent off alarm bells because last November, a major shipment of cocaine was seized near South Stann Creek when a King Air Beechcraft landed along the Southern Highway in the area of the Bladen Nature Reserve.

So I take it that there is no control over the Belize air space and that planes can come and go as they please, did anyone got the registration number off this plane so we can determine what country it’s from? Remember My Legacy B4 My People.

As far as I know Belize doesn’t even have a radar system in place. The only way they can detect any aircraft in Belize airspace is by radio communitcation. Transponders don’t play no role. Our airport just got equiped with an ILS system, did you know that. From the tower, they have to use binaculars to look out for airplanes coming in or leaving around the airport airspace.

Any airplane can fly anywhere in Belize and won’t get detected. If they were, don’t you think they would have cracked down on all the drug planes. The airport itself isn’t secure….remember nothing happened about the time when two guys said they are taking a plane off the tarmac for a test run or something and never returned, the Tiawanese plane that landed without clearance….HELLOO!!!! TIB – This Is Belize

Joe, we got radar at the International Airport, however it requires the use of a transponder on the aircraft to help with the ID and other info from said aircraft…Guess what happens when the pilot chooses to shut it off! Radar wont stop it, not even the ‘mighty’ USA can stop it there , what you think of us?

  7. Elgin Martinez says:

Get the BDF plane to shoot it down.
