F.F.B. can’t have a national team

Dean Barrow

At his quarterly press conference that was packed with a cheering gallery of workers from the poverty alleviation project and at least six ministers, the prime minister also deal with the Football Federation of Belize. That’s one of several sporting associations that are no longer recognized by the National Sports Council of Belize. The decision came on Tuesday, and the F.F.B. is currently preparing to take a national team to play in an international match in Trinidad.  The P.M. said that he doesn’t think that the F.F.B. can call its team the national team.

Dean Barrow

“Well I don’t see how they can’t there are processes—I am not familiar with the issue as the Minister of Sports—but there are processes that have come to a head and have resulted in a decertification. What is Mister Chimilio’s organization called? F.F.B. And so it is my information that in those circumstances, the team can’t style itself the national football team. And I, from what I gather, not even so much a question for government and FIFA would not allow it. And there will be some consequences, I gather, visited on Belize. But as far as I know, they can’t do it.”

Notwithstanding, this afternoon, the Football Federation of Belize announced that it is playing two international games, leading up to the World Cup Brazil 2011. The first will be played at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago against Montserrat and the return match will be held at the F.F.B. Field in Belmopan on June nineteenth. And in respect of the issue of decertification by the National Sports Council, the F.F.B. says that it has not violated any grounds for it to be suspended.

I really cannot understand the leadership of the FFB. Are they a country by itself? Can this arrogant man named Chimilio just step down along with his crew of scamps like Pech and Palacio , and let footbal grow? They should not be allowed to represent Belize. I dont want the FFB to represent me as a Belizean.

  2. cindy says:

Lets be realistic. players i know you love football but it can be better with a better administration. dont go stay home cry bawl but if chimilio has no players there cant be a team. lets be one lets make sports better. come on every one. its a shame. they have been stealing the FFB money for the longest. look at the half mek stadium in belmopan. that is naunsense. chimilio is what the president that he can decide on his own? its our country, our people let not one ruler rules us.! no GAME

if your are barbaric against football in bze then you should be ban totally .you are not even to be taking our boys out of country. immigration should stop them from leaving the country

The FFB is not representing Belize. It is representing Chimilio and Company of bandits. If he fields a team then he can receive more money from FIFA. He doesn’t care about results as long as he stays good with FIFA. I remember a few years back before Chimilio era when we at least use to win against Panama and Nicaragua. Look at Panama now they are a formidable team in the area. Representing their country in youth world cup, etc.

To finalize if you don’t want Chimilio to represent Belize and somehow he gets his way for the Belmopan game then do the most descent thing and don’t go to the game. I know I am not going.
