Robbery and burglary in Corozal and Belmopan

Two thieves used one of the oldest tricks in the book to rob the Corozal branch of Belize Postal and Messaging Service. The men went to the establishment at around two o’clock on Friday afternoon, pretending to be customers and requested a package in the name of “Coleman”. According to employee, Sheila Torres, when she told them that the package wasn’t there, one of the assailants pulled out a handgun and demanded that they hand over everything. The men made off with an undisclosed sum of cash and two cell phones. Shortly after the robbery, police arrested twenty-seven year old Nadir Medina, an Orange Walk resident. Another man, also believed to be from Orange Walk, is still on the run.

Thieves also hit the Ministry of Works over the weekend. David Novelo, an engineer for the Belmopan office reported to police that between Saturday and Sunday, someone stole three fifteen horse power electric motors. The motors were used to swing the Belcan Bridge on Central American Boulevard and value twenty thousand dollars. The brand and serial numbers for the motors are still unknown, but police continue to investigate.

Check with the recycling plant, they do not seem to have a conscience when it comes to the service Belizeans need & depend on & we cannot expect the thieves & crack head s who will sell their souls for a rock to care about the inconvenience to the public or what services will have to be put aside or postponed when stolen property must be replaced.
