UNIBAM President says homosexual rights are basic human rights

Caleb Orosco

Earlier we told you that the churches view the claim on gay rights brought against the attorney general by UNIBAM as an attack on the moral fiber of the nation. According to the UNIBAM executive president, however, the lawsuit is simply a means by which homosexuals are standing up for their basic human rights through advocacy at the Supreme Court Level. If you haven’t made up your mind on the issue, Caleb Orosco defended his case this afternoon.

Caleb Orosco, Executive President, UNIBAM

“Our case isn’t unique in terms of what we’re trying to do.  We’re using a democratic tool.  The tool is the Supreme Court and the use of the Constitution.  We are not unique in terms of bringing constitutional challenges.  There are other groups which have done that and have used the court to for finding redress so our case is not unique in that regard.  Beyond them politicizing the sexual rights of individuals that they know nothing about really is a dirty. What it means is that gay people or gay men in particular, bisexual men in particular have stood up for basic human rights.  What is means is that this case will and have generated a discussion on the basic consciousness of every individual in this country.  How would you treat your own blood if they were gay?”

  3. Stephen says:

God did not make a man for another man, these people should be put to death or allowed them to find Sodom And Gomorrah to go live. Belize has been a nation that fair GOD now we have all kind of idiot and nasty people trying to change our constitution. This will only make GOD mad with Belize and watch for disasters if this go through. Get those …..-man out of here and feed them to swines as they eat anything. Please have a BELIZEAN judge for this case so that he make the right decision and prime minister please put something in our constitution that will not allowed gay people to have any rights in Belize.

  4. Jah says:

    No to faggots, go away………………..

  5. Bz says:

I certainly do not understand the whole gay culture, but I do believe in Live and Let Live….basic human right, no-one should be treated like a sub-standard human. Even if you are a little nancy!

  6. Iniate says:

If my brothers was gay, I would call the cops immediately and do all I can to make sure he sits in jail for 10 years!!! – no fuss!

    Rom 1:24-28

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

    Argument over…nothing more to say.

  7. D-Power says:

What basic human rights is this guy refering to, that all Belizeans don’t already have?
Is he trying to publicise Belize as a gay destination?
Are gays being singled out in Belize? I don’t get it. When was there ever a overwhelming gay problem in Belize? I’m guessing if the constitution changes to include some specific pro gay legislation, problems will come with it.

  8. mylegacyb4mypeople says:

I commend the church for its stance on this issue since it is impossible to be spiritually and politically correct at the same time, although I believe that people were given and should have freedom of choice and should be held responsible for their own actions it is not necessary that the lifestyle they choose which is contrary to that of nature should be legally endorsed and supported by the nation and it’s churches, if there are or were instances where these people are being persecuted for their consensual behavior then it would be the responsibility of those in authority to make provisions that these acts should not occur but not so far as to endorse and give them our blessings for such behavior, for it is written:

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Like all sins Homosexuality is just another sin that must be overtaken there is nothing natural about it, but of course this bible thing and scripture quoting is only for the believers and I don’t expect non believers to agree or understand this, there is no perfect soul we just need to be willing to change from our waywardness. Remember, My legacy B 4 My People

  9. The Messenger says:

God made Adam and Eve….not Adam and Steve or Madam and Eve.

Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them”

The rule of the land shall represent that of the Bible.

Homosexuality is a sin similar to committing crime! If this is not taken into account….well stop prosecuting criminals, close the police department and free the prisoners. As a homosexual you will see this is wrong, however, this is the same way we see you perverts!

  10. The Messenger says:

Bz…. wait till you see this people turn your blood into gay (that if you are not one already) then you will regret it. These people are nasty….they go beyond perversion. I just know that the UDP has a lot of gays in it….so it just makes us wonder!

  11. ESSB says:

Leviticus 18:22 “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”

GODS law is above any constitutional law…stop this gay move from going any way further.

Belize has always been a proud and straight little nation; let’s not tarnish our international reputation.

  12. Richard says:

Gay men all over our society. We need to start to clean up all the departments filled of gay men. W talk about waste of money. They using government funding and also outside help to go on big gay festivals. Gay prides all over the world. Mexico, U.S.A and then come and boast about it. They have gay meetings. Men having sex with Men like its something they proud of. These institutions should be ashame and the government should be aware of what they are doing with the money, Most of there staff is gay. Alliance -Against – Aids. National Aids Commission, Pasmo, UNIBAM and i am sure there many more. It gets to me that educated people dont have a job, yet from the head right down to the tail these …….. are having a good time using these organizations to have a good time. Gay movements, we nuh ready fu this yet. Burn fire!!

  13. joshua says:

Leviticus 18:22 “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” it is very true
Homosexuality, is evil. greatest sin on earth. god made women for purpose,
looks like the dean barrow administration are gays, to let such things to go on allowing gay to fight for thier rights.. ..our country is coming to hell state..

  14. Lucas says:

Try pointing a finger at someone and notice how three will be pointing back at you. Jesus said: Mt:7:3 (And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?). We cannot rule in moral matters without entering in dangerous waters. History is littered with such consequences. For example, think about the christain and the inquisition persecutions. WE recoil and shiver at the consequences of trying to rule in morality. But by the same token, we cannot act and then find an excuse for it because there will be dire consequences regardless. For it is written ( Let not your words cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of the Lord that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the works of your hand? Ecclesiastes 4:5). Eve’s Excuse was: Why did you made the snake? and Adam said: The woman you gave me. We use excuses like : I was born like that or, that is how I am or, that how God made me or, it is a work of nature or, my rights are being violated etc. etc. The truth of the matter is that God made man upright but they have sought many schemes Ecclesiastes 7:29). Sin is sin. He who does not steal but commits adultery has already broken the law James 2:11. therefore, if I do not commit murder but practise an unnatrual act, it is still a sin. Some people think themselves wise but in God’s opinion they are fools Romans 2:22. however, He who excuses his sin will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes it will obtain mercy Proverbs 28:13.

  16. belizeanpride says:

caleb go !@#$ your self and period no gay rights in belize. if you win, we’ll ask for a mestizo right, a creole right, hindu right, mennonite right. you have all the right like any striaght person so what the hell is your point of fighting for the gay right?

  17. Earl Grey says:

Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act…………HOWEVER WE MUST – - – LIVE AND……… LET LIVE…………..

  18. STR8 TO THE POINT says:

Sadly we are face with this kinda drama. We are need to get rid of all the organizations filled with gay men. National Aids commission, Alliance against aids and Unibam, They spending tax payers money hiring gay men to suit the bedtime stories. They having gay parties every so often and taking trips used to be business and have a feast at gay joinst, time for this to stop, all teh heads of these organizations are gay, and many of there workers, sad but true, out with this man, we too small for this.

  19. Wow says:

I find it both amusing and disgusting how quick others want to judge and use the Bible as their pulpit from which to utter negative and ignorant comments about people whose bedroom business has nothing to do with them. I am not gay but I support everyone as long as they are not child molesters, rapists or murders. I don’t see this much hate for those people, must be whey crime is so rampant, we spend too much time worrying about irrelevant things.

If Belize was sooooooooooo “GODLY” as people want to “CLAIM” we would be afraid to walk the streets of the city. When each person can say they have not fornicated, committed adultery and love their neighbors as themselves then I can listen to them babble biblical texts.

Maybe we would fair off better if this attention was given to the real issues hurting our nation and take your tongue out of people’s A**

  20. Haters make me sad to be a Belizean. says:

You people have no idea what it is like to live in a country filled with haters like you. Its down right impossible to live a happy life when every corner of your country is aiming stones at you, just because of who you are. By rights, we aren’t talking about privileges above any other Belizean, just to enjoy equality. Whether the law changes or not, we cannot change who we are, and we will continue to live as we have been. It’s so sad and disheartening for a gay belizean, proud of his country to be placed in the same category such as people who write the most horrendous of comments on this thread.

  21. Cecilia says:

We all have to give account of what we do… Its not like you did not hear of God’s wrath on S & G, learn from others mistake, take heed, do all of Belize a favor, Keep away!

  22. ME says:

If i should sprain my ankle i will never use benGAY!

  23. bzmar says:

Shame on this gay. He’s not even sure what sex he is. Gosh, these people don’t have anything constructive to do but to bring more problems to this country. Waste of people’s time. He should be grateful we no longer live under the law of the old testament. If he was gay and under the law, he would be stoned to death.

UNIBAM, focus your energy on good positive things, on education, on children, on our youths and their families. Focus on the countrie’s well being, don’t be selfish, and over all, READ YOUR BIBLE, you bunch of foolish people.

  24. B groovy says:

where did this corrupt mango come from???

  25. DMT says:

I can see the sign at the airport now – “Welcome to Belize – Truculent, bigoted and ignorant of the facts.”

  26. Mavado says:

Case in point, the same thing that the homosexuals are trying to prove in court, people do discriminate. Give the people the same right as we have, because we are all humans. All you people getting all religious, I know many of you drink, smoke, smoke weed and !@#$ without marriage. Let the one who has no sin throw the first stone. God is the decider of all things, stop trying to do God job. If Jah would come right now and judge you, would you be free of iniquity. Then shut the hell up.

Gays do not bother me at all, because I am not threatened by that. I am not competing with them for the same …., so they can be over there, and I can be over here, and we can all coexist peacefully.

You guys treat women so badly too, I think your real threat is for your women to go over to the other side, because then that would prove that ……….cannot fall big trees. And don’t try to attack me for my beliefs, because that is what the whole discussion is about. Freedom of rights and opinions. Caleb Orosco, you go boy, do your thing and do not be dissuaded by fools, everyman should be able to follow their dreams. Unfortunately, the time wasted on gaybashing, is not time spent trying to deal with the high crime and murder rate. What these @$$$oles should do is to go to the graveyard and count the new graves and check how many mothers are crying for the sons. Belize, what happened to ONE LOVE??????

  27. JOHNNY says:

  28. JOHNNY says:

Treat my own blood? hahahaha Bring them to God! And may God have mercy and give them time to repent! Does not make a difference if its my own blood or not!

  29. Chrissy girl says:

Small minded people back home. Belize will NEVER move forward if ppl don’t open their eyes and stop the hate. What if I said ‘I HATE BLACK PEOPLE’? hmmm??? That makes me racist!
Behave yourselves and stop being so negative. And for Gods sake, quit quoting the bible!!!!

  30. Earl Grey says:

TODAY IT’S THE GAYS…………….who will it be TOMORROW????

  31. Me says:

why doesnt this man stop his foolishness? Keep tradition the way it is, what he does is his business but dont come changing things, we are not the states of canada. We are Belize! One of the reseans we’re great is because we havent lost ourselves and we’re traditional and we know god unlike him.

  32. hmmmmmmmmmm says:

It is hideous to read all this nonsense, the fact that people are ready to descriminate others and not look at their own brood, is despicable.
Look at all the religious churches hating one another , going against one another, but yet they are the first ones to want to tell how to live, when they cant do the same. And also ppl with comments of gays that influence our children, has the church help those mothers crying for their dead ones ??????? “what you sow is what you reap” and it all starts with errors of our own fathers and mother’s ..Take in consideration that bze is small and sweet , but there is enough space for love

  33. Pride Belize says:

An engineering professor is treating her husband, a loan officer, to dinner for finally giving in to her pleas to shave off the scraggly beard he grew on vacation. His favorite restaurant is a casual place where they both feel comfortable in slacks and cotton/polyester-blend golf shirts. But, as always, she wears the gold and pearl pendant he gave her the day her divorce decree was final. They’re laughing over their menus because they know he always ends up diving into a giant plate of ribs but she won’t be talked into anything more fattening than shrimp.
Quiz: How many biblical prohibitions are they violating? Well, wives are supposed to be ‘submissive’ to their husbands (I Peter 3:1). And all women are forbidden to teach men (I Timothy 2:12), wear gold or pearls (I Timothy 2:9) or dress in clothing that ‘pertains to a man’ (Deuteronomy 22:5). Shellfish and pork are definitely out (Leviticus 11:7, 10) as are usury (Deuteronomy 23:19), shaving (Leviticus 19:27) and clothes of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19). And since the Bible rarely recognizes divorce, they’re committing adultery, which carries the rather harsh penalty of death by stoning (Deuteronomy 22:22).
So why are they having such a good time? Probably because they wouldn’t think of worrying about rules that seem absurd, anachronistic or – at best – unrealistic. Yet this same modern-day couple could easily be among the millions of Americans who never hesitate to lean on the Bible to justify their own anti-gay attitudes.

  34. Vincent Pinson says:

    Pride Belize–

All you have done here, by plagiarizing someone’s else’s attempt to be clever, is demonstrate that you are Biblically illiterate. You don’t even understand the rudiments of Biblical theology, Old and New Covenant, the contextual use and application of law over redemptive history, etc.

  35. emo_goth says:

you people are so bias and judgemental. we are all people no matter what out age, gender, race and sexual orientation. God made each and everyone of us in his image so who are we to comment on that image. you people need to stop commenting b s and learn to live together cuz at the end of the day were still gonna be living in the same place. tell me something….. if you found out your son was gay or your daughter was a lesbian would you shun them? would you cast them out of your family? were all people, none of us is better than anyone else……

  36. Law_girl says:

As a future lawyer i have to say that the bible was written by man not directly god! I’m not a christian, But I know the bible! God says to see everyone as equal..and you people who are discriminating are not doing so. I personally think you should leave God to do the judging because most of you so called Christians should be setting the exaple but you all are the first to judge! I have no problem with gays or whatever you call it! If they are not bothering you then leave them alone.

  37. abv says:

Come on Caleb?? Let me remind you that we are already a under populated country!!! What’s your plan to boost up our nation???

  38. Margaret Rosado says:

Gay people are human beings and most of them will enter the gates of heaven before most of the people who are commmenting here. God wants us to love and respect our neighbor and to do good…..this priviledge is not just for straights!
