New board appointed for Social Security

Government has announced its appointments to the Social Security Board. According to a release from the Ministry of Finance Lois Young is the new chair of the board, wile Ariel Mitchell, Paul Jones, Natalie Goff and Dennis Jones have been appointed as members. Rounding out the board are Trade Union Congress nominees Dylan Reneau and Elena Smith, Chamber of Commerce nominee Mark Lizarraga, and Mel Auil Junior, nominated by the Business Bureau. As for the presumptive C.E.O., Merlene Bailey Martinez, under the law she is appointed by the board, not the Minister of Finance. So while it is believed that Bailey Martinez is the choice of the political directorate, her official job offer must be voted on by the board. As recently as last week, Social Security had placed ads in the local newspapers advertising the post of C.E.O. Now finding itself in a somewhat embarrassing position, this afternoon in its own release the S.S.B. made clear its intention to follow the legal procedure and for the next two weekends will continue to advertise for a C.E.O. with the deadline for applications set at March fourteenth. The release goes on to emphasise that all qualified persons are invited to apply.
