Belize National Teachers Union supports Moses Sulph

Moses Sulph

The Belize National Teachers Union issued a press release today expressing support for Moses Sulph, the social activist who was fired from his job as a clerk at the General Registry on April twelfth.  No reasons were given for his termination, but his desk immediately came under investigation after the COLA sleepover in front of the Prime Minister’s office in Belmopan.  According to B.N.T.U.’s President, Jaime Panti, Sulph who is the president of COLA, should be reinstated immediately.

Jaime Panti, President, B.N.T.U.

“As a union, B.N.T.U. is in solidarity with the Public Service Union and COLA in relation to Mister Sulph’s termination. I think it is without due reason and I do believe that he needs to be reinstated to his position. In any situation, there is a due process that needs to be followed and in his case, I know he is an open vote, but I do believe that because of his being vocal on issues then I believe he is being victimized and I believe he has a civil and constitutional right that needs to be protected and that’s why the unions are standing in solidarity.”

Jose Sanchez

“I know everyone is in solidarity with Mister Sulph, but other than just calling for his reinstatement, is there anything tangible that the unions and the supporters can do that can assist him?”

Jaime Panti

Jaime Panti

“Well we are muscling all the support that we need. I think that is the first step and then we are waiting to see how the government is going to respond and then from there we will assess it. The public service has been very clear and I do believe COLA has and B.N.T.U. is joining also in their efforts in reinstating Mister Sulph to his position.”

Jose Sanchez

“Is there a timeline or should there be a timeline as to how soon you should expect to get a positive response or any response at all from the government?”

Jaime Panti

“Well I assume it ought to be immediately, but we are guided by the Public Service who is actually the custodians of Mister Sulph and he, the President of COLA. So we are waiting for the Public Service to actually lead and we will just follow.”

Jose Sanchez

“Your press release speaks about democracy and how the government is actually instilling fear in people who speak out. Is that what you are in belief happened in this situation?”

Jaime Panti

“Certainly. I do believe that as a country we need to create a culture of people speaking on issues. I don’t think that we need to stifle anybody. That is under pins the principle of democracy. You cannot as a government expect that we are going to—we are so petty in this country with so many issues. I think that we need to be very mature and look at the issues as to how they are and move on. I don’t think we need to be petty. So we need to encourage a culture that speaks out on the issues, not on personality.”

The Public Service Union and Belizeans for Justice on Tuesday joined COLA also calling for Sulph to be given back his job.

It all has to do with Barrow after all it was in front of his office that the sleep over happened that started this whole thing, maybe it is time for another sleep over in front of his office, Barrow, Barrow, Barrow always trying to be a dictator and making his own laws get him out of there he has proven his point that he can become prime minister of Belize which was really just an ambitious move, ok it’s done you can leave now of course being the prime minister of Belize and being a good prime minister are two different things and in most Belizeans opinion if I could speak for them, I would say that you are the worst Belize has ever had and probably will ever have lucky for you so far there has only been a handful to compare to but never the less you are at the bottom of this few and I will have to say deliberately so you really took the people of Belize for idiots and had no intention of serving your country honorably. Remember, My Legacy B 4 My People.

BELIZEAN in LA….everybody nurtures some types of prejudices, only some are too scared to express them. Mine is xenophobia: i do not like foreigners, especially those who feel that they have more rights in my country than i have as a born belizean. If you have ever travelled to the the Caribbean, you will know that when you enter any of the island nations other than Bahamas or Turks and Caicos you are immediately treated with less than hospitable attitudes. The Jew boys are the most unkind, followed by the Bagians. In Belize we tend to welcome any fool with a big mouth who claims to want to teach us about civil liberties. You see, in their minds, we are all gullible, as opposed to peaceful, citizens. I hope you learnt something today.

In all honesty we should use our time to help people that are genuinely in need, sulph is a very egotistical and conceited man. He is using and has been using the media for his own selfish needs and masking it as caring for belizeans. He is unworthy of anything belizean and he needs to man up and stop being a parasite. We tolerated him too long. Thank you but no thanks.
