Preschool Festival of Arts, Cayo District, focuses on public speaking

And though Good Start Preschool doesn’t have access to potable water, the Camalote School was among the shining stars at this week’s Preschool Festival of Arts for the Cayo District.  Today was the last day of performances in the nation’s capital.  The organizers say there is need for youths to practice public speaking whether it’s in the classroom or on the stage.

“These things are important because they build character and we try to see how we can build the children’s skill from early.  One challenge we see in this country is public speaking so this is a part of the strategy to ensure that we begin to promote public speaking from an early stage.   It’s not taught to the levels that we would want but it is there and we do it through the festival of arts as well.”

“This is our last day.  We had two days in Benque and we featured twenty two schools and today we’re doing ten here in Belmopan.   What we’re promoting here is for the early childhood children to begin to explore all possibilities and if parents and teachers continue to encourage them we can have a much better Belize.”

The festival was held in connection with Child Stimulation Month.
