Utilities do prep work for downtown paving

Story PictureThe downtown area was abuzz with construction today as utilities conducted the necessary groundwork in preparation for the paving of Albert and Regent Streets. On Regent Street trench work was being done by Belize Telemedia Limited while on Albert, Belize Water Services was taking care of its pipes. According to Deputy Mayor Anthony Michael, the construction work should be completed by the end of the month. As for the renovation of Albert and Regent, Michael says the plants for the landscaping portion have been donated and the City Council is currently in negotiation for the concrete stamping of the sidewalks. If weather permits, the Deputy Mayor says the hot mix resurfacing will begin the first week of May.
