Belize “home game” to be played in Houston

Their performance against St. Kitts was impressive but two months from now, the Belize National Football team must once again rise to the occasion. Because there is no FIFA sanctioned venue in the country, the home game against Mexico in the World Cup elimination will take place on Sunday, June fifteenth, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Game two is scheduled for June twenty-first in Monterrey, Mexico. According to officials from the Football Federation of Belize, talks are underway with airlines about arranging group rates for fans interested in seeing the Houston game. The FFB says the team started training for the series this week and will play an international friendly against Costa Rica’s national team in San Jose on June sixth as part of its preparations.

In related news, football fans should note that the first game of the Super League championship will take place on Sunday at four at the Marshalleck Stadium with Benque DC United hosting Texmar Boys of Independence. Official opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at two that afternoon.
