Cops want public’s help in identifying gunman

Police were on the scene within minutes, but by then, the gunman, who pulled the trigger with what appeared to be a sawed off shotgun, had long run through a churchyard and headed into one of the back streets that lead to the Western Highway.  Police, according to the Department’s Press Officer, Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood, is relying on the public’s help to make an arrest.

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“To establish motive we would have to interview the victim.  What I can tell you offhand is that we received a report that he was standing at the corner of Partridge and Vernon around nine-thirty when a lone gunman opened fire on him. We haven’t detained anyone; we haven’t come across any weapon.  The weapon that might have been used—we’re just at the beginning stage still trying to put the pieces together.  Until the doctor tells us what they have removed from him through the surgery then we can say what type of weapon has been used on him.”

“Any eyewitnesses have come forth yet to share what they heard or saw?”

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood

“Well not so far, but we’re asking because we know that people were out there, to just come and in any way that you believe that you can assist us in this investigation. It might not be for this crime, any other crime. If you don’t want to come in to the station, you can call us using the usual numbers: 922-Tips or 911.”

The bullet that wounded Garnett entered from behind his right ear and exited through the right side of his face.  He underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition in the recovery ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Good luck, i am just grateful they weren’t deaf too & did not ignored the woman’s screams but you know how myopic our folks have become. Fitzroy, I am glad you went to church & got your cross but take a quick glance at the picture & the stories about this shooting & draw your own conclusion.
