Cops say they didn’t knock down stabbing victim

Fitzroy Yearwood

Police also gave their version in respect of the murder of twenty-seven year old Jason Pott which occurred at the corner of Cleghorn Street and Slaughterhouse Road on Saturday evening.  The victim’s sister alleged that a police mobile knocked down her brother and a friend, who were heading to the hospital on a bicycle, because they were riding contrary to the flow of traffic. But today Police Press Officer, Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood told News Five that the officers deny that they hit the victim or his friend.

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“She alleged that police knocked her brother down off a bicycle because he was being rushed on a bicycle. We have investigating that allegation—internal affairs jumped on it right away. The officers involved, witnesses on the scene are saying that it was not so. And yeah, at the end of the day, they lost a loved but don’t complicate a situation by making allegations that are not so because at the end of the day, we have to investigate all allegations. We’re already investigating a murder and then to investigate our own officers for some kind of unprofessional behavior; that’s not warranted, will not be tolerated by the police department, by the Minister, nor the Commissioner of Police. That kind of behavior from our officers will not be tolerated and we investigated it immediately.”

Thanks for clearing that up. I still think the parents need to be prosecuted.

Now did you people honestly expect the police to take responsibility for their part in contributing to mr. Pott’s death??? REALLY??? Fitzroy Yearwood sounds like bad scratched record with his monotonous rehearsed two-liners and stupid police lingo. This @$$hole gets on my damn nerve and I hope he gets what’s coming to him for covering for these fellow dogs in uniform!!!!!!

    I understand that Fitzroy Yearwood
Has to defend officers to the media and the public for security reasons, but according to the history of the Police department no officers would admit to committing any such deed against the people they swore to protect.

Keep that also in your mind, please.

I think someone in the chain of command was missed. The Minister has a direct subordinate who is the direct superior of the Commissioner. Let him work and be accountable for his 80K or whatever loud salary he’s pulling in.

Fitzroy Yearwood you are really getting on my nerves you are beginning to sound like G. Michael Reid. Most of the police officers on patrol act like a$$es even when someone is not riding up stop; so I do believe that they hit the guys off the bike. You need to stop defending those officers with criminal behaviour. What they did can be classified as exessive use of force, there are different ways to get people’s attention. Start traning your officers and stop defending their criminal acts. You are behaving like parents who condone wrongdoing by their children then they get on the TV and cry for them. I have never been arrested much less pulled over by a police but I have seen you all in action.

I agree with u all. Corrupted police all over the country. I get fed up of hearing this bull….t every time. According, the police deh neeeeva du noothing!! Even if deh do accept de du, da always the small fries de use as the sacrificial lambs and da waste a time caz they always get off. Police wa always tek part fi police, noh k how bad they are to citizens. But we people all know weh d happen and we noh blind and stupid. Like d saying seh, “da fool d talk but da noh fool d listen”. Minister have to get down and have workkshops and trainings fi these officers. The way I see it they always go after people with aggressiveness, fi small deeds and the real gangsters usually get overlooked or buy de off! This story sound suspicious indeed BUT fa both sides, sounds like gangsters at war for power!!!!!!
