No signs of forced entry; Bing Chang Zhao murdered after shop was closed

In Belize City where the number of murders is a record, a Chinese grocery store owner met a horrific death at his business place. On Saturday morning after nine thirty, C.I.B. personnel visited number seventy six Vernon Street which is the home and business place of Bing Chang Zhao. They found the fifty-three year old shop keeper covered in blood, lying face up with cut wounds across his face and his knee. Police investigations revealed that Bing closed his shop at twelve o’ five a.m. on Saturday March fifth. His son, Guang Chao Zhao, apparently found his body inside a storeroom after nine thirty a.m.  Sources say that the cops retrieved two kitchen knives as exhibits and though there were many scattered items throughout the area where Bing’s body was found, there were no signs of forced entry. Residents in the area claimed to have heard a commotion in the building sometime after two a.m.

“Police visited a scene at the corner of Magazine Road and Vernon Street, I think it’s Ming Ming Shop where they found the lifeless body of Bing Chang Zhao, Chinese businessman, fifty-three years old. It is alleged that he locked up his shop sometime around midnight on Sunday and his son saw him a little after midnight and the son went out. Upon his arrival a little after nine on Sunday morning, he is saying that he found his father in the store room section of the said shop. A lot of blood was on the scene. The father had two large cut wounds and apparently the father was dead. Upon arrival, police observed all this. The body was transported to K.H.M.H. where it was pronounced dead by a medical officer and right now we are trying to establish or find out who may have been the perpetrator of this crime. So far investigators are saying that there are no visible signs of forceful entry, but whether or not it was robber, we will have to wait from an assessment from the son of the deceased to see whether or not anything was stolen from the shop.”

His killer entered the establishment while it was opened for the day, this should explain the “no signs of entry”.
Details revealed a different kind of murder here on a business man. If it was not a robbery then he had an altercation with his son, someone he fired, or had an altercation with someone else.

Investigate his son motive for murder…

  2. CSI says:

the son is to do the assessment, how unprofessional. what happen to fingerprinting, how much people in the police can speak chinese of mandarin, is it about time? Belize police are quick to jump on the obvious, no force entry then the son did it. leave a suicide note beside a body and it is forever a suicide. when will they surprise us and solve a crime.

  3. RG Belizean says:

Some thing wrong with this picture. No signs of force entry. The report stated that the victim had wounds across his face and knees. This sounds like something personal and it had to be someone that he knew. Who would try to kill someone and stab them at their knees. They also need to find out how many stab wounds was inflected on this victim. Usually the more stab wounds a person has that means that the killing was done with some intense emotions like revenge.

We have Belizeans of Chinese descent in our Government & every aspect of Belizean life, there is no reason to believe that there are no interpreters available to help with Mandarin, Cantonese, Tonsing or other Chinese languages & dialects. It is possible that a stranger came in to rob him but it is also possible that he had a disagreement with hos son which ended in murder. The Police have no way of knowing what was in the store’s inventory & should address it with the son.

How many people had keys to this place & where did his son go?
