Soldier found with counterfeit bills

We reported last Friday that a Mexican soldier from the state of Tabasco had been picked up at the Corozal Free Zone with US currency, a point twenty five caliber pistol as well as live ammunition. Jose Luis Beltran’s case is somewhat intriguing because he was processed through the court system at the blink of an eye. He was arrested on Thursday and on Friday he was taken to the Corozal Courts where he was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison for Keeping Firearm and Ammunition without a Gun License; a conviction that he is appealing. But for the Possession of Counterfeit Currency, even though he pleaded guilty, in an unusual move, his release was ordered by the Magistrate. But Beltran remains in police custody tonight while they await the official instructions. When he was arrested, the police found on him over twenty thousand dollars in US currency, which when checked by the bank, eighteen hundred dollar bills were found to be fake.

I commented on this issue last week and I have upped the ante of my rage concerning the matter. The ink haven’t even dried yet on the fate of the Belizeans who were caught in Mexico a few days ago with firearms, ammo, etc and we already know that by the time they’re finished serving their decades in hell in a Mexican prison, Belize will probably have subways. I personally don’t feel any remorse for them, but let the rule of law apply in the same way to the brazen Mexican who has seriously violated our laws. I am PI$$ED OFF at this gross misciarriage of justice and the f%#&ing slap in the face of all Belizeans by this God-forsaken, corrupted bas–rd of a magistrate in Corozal. This is a case of pure, clear-cut, unadulterated payoff. This son-uva-B@#$h should be dis-barred and sent to jail for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How much more of this S#!t will the people of Belize tolerate from this incompetent, worthless U.D.P. government?!?!!!!

One bullet found in Belizean home, the whole family goes to Jail…. Mexican beaner found with gun and ammo, he is escorted by cops into Mexico and given a hand shake…

WTF is wrong with our law makers, enforcers? how crooked can you be?

  4. rebel says:

The Magistrate is Bernard Lino. He was recently transferred to Czl from Dangriga. He is a worthless magistrate who has erred in law too many times. I agree. He should be disbarred…and I add….publicly flogged for his stupid errors. Let him have a taste of real justice.

  5. rebel says:

As you can see, the Corozal Police are doing everything they can to keep this guy in lockdown. Kudos to them. Unfortunately they can only charge on the advice of the DPP…this is when Jeffries goes in for his “cut”. Jeffries is also worthless. Crime is worst under him and the UDP.

  6. Sugar says:

greasing of palms just got more public cause theres big $$ involved. gross incompetence: I agree, but not only on the fault of the Magistrate, on the entire judiciary system and GOB. this thing stinks to high hell and…….since the PM always has press-conferences for smaller sh*t than this, will be looking forward to one later today to advise on whet he will do or has done. court always blame the prosecution with not bringing evidence…..GUN…AMMO….COUNTERFEIT….what more goddamn evidence U need now???

  7. yc316 says:

We have to deal with these people just as the mexican deal with belizeans. if he were a belizean caught in mexico with this act, mein, the mexicans would lock them up for good.

deal with that mexican proper and lock him for good

In Belize it pays to be a criminal….. not a petty criminal… a hardcore one…..

perhaps BTB is doing such a great job that we are now attracting all kinds of criminals…. Zetas, Money launderers, Drug Dealers…. now counterfeiters!!!!

  11. BZNinCALI says:

Isn’t this the same magistrate who lost his son to gun violence last year? And we wonder why our children have no conscience…
