Aspiring local musician said cops beat him up; he lied!

Damion "Weezy" August

On January seventeenth, aspiring local musician Damion August came to our studios with his jaws wired shut to make a public complaint of police brutality.  August, who goes by the stage name Weezy, is tonight once again in the news not for an album release or another physical confrontation with the police but for allegedly lying on members of the department. The police version is that the rapper fabricated the incident that he was badly beaten up by officers attached to the Family Violence Unit.  Weezy went as far as threatening to take legal action against the department for the injuries he claimed he received during the altercation.  The truth, according to police, is that Weezy was attempting to steal a bicycle when he was manhandled by its owner and he in turn blamed the incident on them.

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“We at the Police Department take wrongdoings and allegations of wrongdoings by police officers very seriously.  Mr. August visited the Internal Affairs section of the department and he made an allegation that he was beaten by police to the effect that he received a broken jaw and he was about to sue the department for his injuries.  An investigation was launched by the Internal Affairs Unit where during this investigation we found out that Mr. August was not beaten by any police officer and in fact that Mr. August stole a bicycle from the Anchor Security office on Dolphin Street and the two security officer, one who was the owner and another officer who was signing on duty held on to Mr. August.  They are saying that they had to use force to restrain him because he was making off with a blue mountain bike.  I think the complainant gave a statement also so Mr. August will be charged for theft and mischievous act because the unit that he alleged beat him, the officers from that unit, that is the family violence unit, they were passing at the same time coming to Raccoon Street.  I don’t know who altered his story for him.  He called all different officers’ names but at the end of the investigation Mr. August did admit that he was making a false report against the police and he will also be charged for a mischievous act and for the theft of that bicycle.”

The other station said he was punched off the bicycle by a good Samaritan. I hope he is a better musician than he is a thief & a liar. Now instead of a payout from a shakedown you will end up with a fine you cannot pay & in a cell with men who know they will have no trouble whipping your behind & making you the girl. I hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes in the spotlight & get a job after this.

Lame. I was not convinced when the story broke but could not defend the police as everyone knows their track record. Guess he knew it too and took advantage.
